Hello Everyone, I am sooo glad to be amongst you all....Yeah!! I'm seeking approval from Fed employees BCBS for a "sleeve" procedure. They require BMI of 40 or 35 with co-morbidities. I have a 38 BMI with hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol), Impaired fasting Glucose (pre-diabetes) w/family history of diabetes, and PCOS. Wondering if anyone has had success with such conditions being considered relevant for insurance approval. Thanks.
Hi Lynnette. I'm from Ohio and I also have BCBS Federal. I'm sorry I can't answer your question about the co-morbidities because I didn't have any. (I had a BMI of 38 and went up to 40 so I could have surgery.) I will tell you though that BCBS Federal is great. They are really quick with their answers and don't require any diet history. Out of pocket expenses was only $300. When I had a question, I'd call BCBS and they were really helpful. Have you tried calling them? Good luck.
