Vitamin Help Please - I'm Tired
For the past couple of months my energy level has continued to drop. I am getting ample sleep and rest. I wor****il 12:30-1:30am, and when I get home I sometimes watch TV until 3am. I am back up @ 8am, and I lay back down around 12noon until 3p. I am not an 8 to 10 hour sleeper, anything over 6 hours gives me a headache; when I wake up I have to get up. When I workout its like I've been hit by a bus. I am taking my vitamins and calcium, but I want to know am I taking the right ones. I am taking the following:
B-12 Sublingual 500mg @ 2 a day
Centrum Chewable Silver Multi-Vitamins 2 x a day (was taking Bariatric Advantage but ran out)
BA Calcium Chewables 3 x a day
Any suggestions??

You may want to call ahead and get the bloodwork before your appointment. They can mail you an order or you can pick it up. That way when you get there you can discuss the results with the Dr.
I'd try getting in some energy and vitamins through phytonutrients. Purity Products has a SuperGreens/Reds/Purples product. They pack a bunch of nutrients from fruits and vegetables (live) and they are great to mix with either juice or a sf drink and some berries. I've added unflavored protein and the taste was very paletable. Phytonutrients are a great way to get extra supplementation and gives you energy that lasts all day...it wakes up the body at the cellular level and promotes overall health. Lots of antioxidants.
Good luck.

Some of us need to spring for the bariatric formula vits. Its a pain in the @$$ but my labs drop on centrium even with extra sublingual b complex and folic acid.

LV'N MY RNY. WORKING FOR ME BECAUSE I WORK FOR IT.
Get your labs checked now. I also suspect low iron and/or Vitamin D. I'm very surprised they don't have you taking any iron. I take my iron with Vitamin C to help with absorption. As an FYI, my OB told me that it is very common for Black women to have low Vitamin D levels and that she suggests it to all of her patients.
1. Add "dry" D.
2. Are you post menopausal? If not you need to take iron. Centrum Silver doesn't contain iron. Also, the iron in most multi vitamins is voided since the calcium in it blocks it. You will need to take iron along with vitamin C to help with absorption.
3. Add a Super B Complex.
4. Your total calcium with the BA is 750. Add one more so that you are up to 1000. Yeah, those delicious things are tasty and expensive. I take two BA and supplement with another calcium citrate.
Do you need a list of labs to request?

it may not be a lack of vitamins or nutrients at all, it may be as simple as not consuming enough water, a study just published in a CNN report says the biggest reason doctors have found for fatigue is dehydration............buy "smar****er" it contains much needed electrolytes.........chug a huge glass before each bedtime......i know you'll be up within a couple of hours to the rest room but when u are out and about u should be well hydrated and see a energy level boost..............goodluck
