Tis better to be dis-liked than to be loved by them cuz your always on their mind.

I guess I'm just different.

I don't allow anyone to bad mouth people to or around me. Period. I have found that most people who talk about others (no matter the situation) is because they are really insecure in themselves and they try to expose the flaws of others to make themselves feel better.

In your situation, I would not have said anything. Probably because the environment wasn't  conducive  to acting a fool! lol... I am glad you held your own though. It is completely natural to want to come to the defense of something or someone *****presents or even reminds us of who we use to be. It is hard to bite your tongue, when you know how hurtful it is to be considered lazy and what have you.

No matter how long you have been the "skinny" one chances are you were the "fat" one for a longer period of time. Ans that is the person you will identify with more.

My 5 cents!

I have only been this weight for a minute so I do identify closer to  the people she was talking about.  I probably looked at her like she had 6 lips when she first started talking to me about the overweight people in the room.  You are right she has no idea how hurtful her comments and attitude can be.

You said what needed to be said.  You don't have to get loud or rip someone a new one in every situation.  You addressed it appropriately for the situation.

I think you did exactly the right thing. It saddens me to think that people feel they are entitled to having a say-so about someone else's weight issues. I don't think so. I wouldn't have told the woman about my personal journey either- it's not her business. It justgoes to show you that we never know what other people's journies are all about... and she clearly did not know yours. I know for me, the BBW inside wants to rip people a new one everytime I notice someone look at a plus size person with dishonor. But, there's a time and a place for that, and I can't be the Angry Black Bee 24-7... my energy is needed elsewhere.

You represented us (the heavy and the formerly heavy) appropriately and I'm proud.
