This topic may have been addressed on this message board already, but I am new to this site.  I am having my surgery in June and I have done loads of research.  I have seen our brothers and sisters of another persuasion and they have serious extra skin.  What about you all my nubian brothers and sisters!!!  Have you experienced the excess skin and if so, how do you handle it?  Plastic surgery is not an option right now, but I want to be prepared for what my body will begin to look like and to also prepare my husband for what's to come.

Grace and Peace to each of you!

Some of us also have extra skin problems. I had an extended tummy tuck a few  months ago. My surgeon removed nine pounds of excessive skin.

What most people have is sagging breasts.  Once BAF member said it best - her breasts look like empty tube socks with a nickel at the end - respresenting the nipple.  I also have some sagging skin on my upper thighs.  My thighs look bad to me but, the skin is not hanging off like flaps.  Several BAF members have had thigh lifts, tummy tucks, breast augmentation etc...  If you go to a plastic surgeons website, you can see the before and after photos of folks who have had body lifts and the rest.

Everybody's body is different and you will not loose weight in the same way.  Most plastic surgeons won't do any procedures until you are 1 to 2 years out from surgery basically so that you can get to a stable weight.

Hope this helps.

It really did!  Thank you so much.  I will view the before and after pictures to get a better understanding.  I love this website.  It is truly a blessing.

Yes I have sagging skin issues if you look at my pics I posted my bat capes a while back. I was suppose to have a tummy tuck but they discovered a large mass growing in my chest so we had to take care of that first. Now the excess skin on my arms and boobs that I call flatscreens are keeping my chest incision from healing properly. I see the PS on the 23rd. I am hoping to have my arms, flatscreens and tummy done very soon. I can sing the song do your boobs hang low to they swing to and fro can you tie them in a knot can you tie them in a bow? I can truthfully answer yes, yes, yes. I have lots of skin breakdown from the sagging skin and must use ointment to help with the irritations.

I'm still a newbie, just over six months out.  I've always had humongous breasts., so when the weight started to come off, it showed first there.  I've dropped a 1/2 dozen bra sizes or more since August, and it ain't pretty!  They are like fruit roll-ups now!.....But all in all, I would do it over again in a minute.  The benefits I've gained far outweigh the sagging boobs.  Plastics can touch that up in due time should I desire.  But just like I had huge breasts at the beginning, I also was fairly in shape and athletic most of my life, and that translated into my skin keeping fairly good elasticity overall.  Other than the breast sagging, my arms, legs and back have held up really well.  I haven't stopped loosing yet, and I continue to work with weights and do the cardio.  This may change as the weight continues to come off.  There may be more sagging, but that's one thing I'm not worried about.  I'm healthy now!!  I hope this helps too.
