Divorce and Gastric Bypass...

I'm married and nothing has changed for me.  The only thing my husband has said is that I'm more flexible.  LOL!

It really depends on the couple and whether they had a healthy strong relationship before surgery.  It's up to you to figure out whether your relationship is strong or not.  I knew my DH before I gained the weight so we're back to where we started.

Like others have said, if you are very strong in your marriage (both sides) before the surgery, you shouldn't have major problems after.  Speaking from my experience, i can't say with all honesty that my marriage was super strong before WLS.  I mean, we weren't on the brink of divorce, but there were issues.  Now that i've had WLS, I can see how me changing can make those issues seem bigger and the cracks begin to grow and grow.  When someone changes rapidly and drastically (whether for good or bad), there can be resentment and insecurity on the part of the spouse.  I've definintely noticed a change in the dynamic of our relationship.  From her resenting my loss, to telling me i've lost enough and she "likes me bigger", to her accusing me unjustly of cheating, etc.......Things that make you want to give up and just walk away.  Still yet holding on, lol, but I can see how WLS can add to the already exisiting issues in a marriage.
