I justtook my labs for my 1year follow up and they said my calcium is dangerously low.
They said my calcium is being taken from my bones...

Sigh

Leaching is sooooo not cool.
What kind and how much are you taking? What is your value?

Yes that has concerned me lately because that is the one supplement that I am not taking like I should (4 horse pills a day is hard for me to remember & want to do)  Therefore I just recently got some "creamy chews" (chocolate & lemon flavors-bariatric advantage) kind of pricey but worth it and chewable calcium citrate wafers from twinlab.

My plan is to chew 4 chewables a day  (250 mg each) and take 2 pills (500 mg each) that helps a lot so far I am getting my correct daily calcium intake probably for the 1st time pre-op.

Please stay on top of your calcium supplementation and make sure you are taking what you can absorb "citrate"

You are so right about the citrate. I made the mistake shortly after surgery of purchasing some DELICIOUS chewy calcium from The Vitamin Shoppe. I even told a fellow RNYer about them and she ran out and purchased some. I'm so happy it took me only one week to realize my errors... C-A-R-B-O-N-A-T-E

When I ordered my 50,000IUs of D, I also order BA creamy chews. I keep hearing good reviews about them.

You want calcium citrate.  With the calcium cabonate, your body only absorbs half of what is stated on the container.
Without struggle, there is no progress.

Citracal Calcium Citrate with Vitamin D Petites

Citracal has some "petite" sized pills with Vitamin D.  You have to take more of them, but they're easier to swallow than the big ones.
