Gastric Bypass and Congestive Heart Failure...

Whats good BAF?

I know its been seventeen years and 3 hours since i've been here however I do need to know something that I know only you guys can help w/.

My mother has decided to go ahead and have the surgery however she has congestive heart failure. What is the process? She is on Medicare so i'm trying to get a jump start on this for her and get the ball rolling. Help me out BAF.

ok - niceties over.  Dude - seriously - this is SO a question for a doctor's office!  Find a surgeon and get to askin!!!

I know little about her condition but I did have some cardiac issues that had to be addressed before I could get surgical clearence. 

Her cardiologist and any other specialist she sees have to be onboard from the start.  His clearance may be the most important factor.  He will have to be on board after surgery as well.  If she is going to do this she must have a cardiologist that believes in the surgery. 

She is likely to undergo more extensive testing than others unless these procedures were already performed under six months ago, perhaps even sooner.  This may include a cardiac catheterization to check for blockages.  Her medical records will determine what's needed. 
Hopefully her doctor is among those that agree that wls is the best option for cardiac patients that have not been able to resolve their obesity over time. 

I am 58 years old, and was diagnosed with heart failure over a year ago. (my cardiologist, and electro-cardiologist were very supportive of me having the surgery...now they call me their "heart failure poster child"...lol)
