A newbie could just browse profiles at all hours without being a friend unless the profile was set at private...which were few and far between...now this might be the norm.

I think I may cave in and make my profile public to my friends. OH is correct...our info was always public unless you made it private. I remember being that newbie looking at profiles. I had hope....

Today, I locked my profile down because I freaked about a potential employer finding out about my surgery. Like I said before, I'm a liability. My previous employer paid for part of my WLS, several ER visits, gallbladder surgery and those MOFOs were about to pay for my upper thighs but my position was moved to FRIGGIN' FRANCE one week after I got back from medical leave. Schitt....I was only there for 18 months. Guess they got tired of paying for my surgeries. Get my drift?

Or what about the newbie who doesn't know that the share button is NEW and wasn't around for the backlash? They think it's the norm and starts sharing EVERYTHING. Folks now know about your constipation, thinning hair and loss of libido. 

I'm the same person on FB & OH. HOWEVER, I can't go on FB and complain about my family. I can't complain about Mike and the kids. I can't complain about my disappearing breasts. I can't complain about mourning about food.

I want to view folks pages from the plastic surgery boards. If their schitt wasn't on lock, you know it's been nipped in the bud now. I'm getting a new set of girls in the fall (still praying on this one) and I want to read folks blogs. Guess I'm SOL 

I see two strange white men wandering around (a skinny one and a fat one) , a salty pickle, signs, shoes, Coca Cola (I don't even think its diet), flowers, dogs, legs, dolls, zoo and farm animals....WTF...did they have a sale on avatars on the WWW 
I stole my new one from a post that I replied to back in 2005! 

I'm on of those newbies and defintely don't like the "SHARE" feature. I joined also to be able to share, express myself and get support without judgements and bottom line folks I don't want to know to know my business. I respect folks putting their pages on lockdown. I did the same. Privacy is a MUST! I appreciate those that have added me as a friend and all that have shared their experiences to help me through this journey.

Yeah..thats going to be a hot mess...because you know that everybody does not read the TOS or other fine print. I sure hope that OH is responsible enough to put some extra notices up so that people are more aware of the fact that there is absolutely NO PRIVACY on here and that traffic is bootlegged to this site via FB and other highly used webspace!

I personally think that they should send notices by PM of any changes and information that really needs extra highlighting...then again what would be the advantage of them doing so.  Their goal is to increase traffic....if folks come here and there's no juicy happenings..just boring sterile repetitive posts...they are less as likely to stick around. So I am sure they don't have an issue with people putting all their business out there.

And they labeled the BAF forum as "very popular" in the description...wonder why?...because it was kept lively with honest..no holds barred sharing. Thata change.

 I think U said it so well Sd .  What made the OH site so great was the freedom people felt here to be themselves warts and all - and the beauty was there was so much we could do to help each other !   

Now I don't think the site will have the same warm feeling - or friendliness - though the trolling and unwanted shares on social sites may result in more numbers for the OH management and therefor more advertising revenue .  

Well now that I have to censor myself and read censored whitewashed shares  I'll probably be spending a lot less time here .  Maybe thats a good thing ... who knows...

you said it beautifully - and you're spot on!  I know I am going to be more on email with my tight homies and FB - hell, looks like I will actually be working at work more often now and that's a damn SHAME!!!!  LOL

I also really, really hate that I can't leave all my things up because I truly know that newbies saw my blog and pics and story and did get inspired.  When I was a newbie - Mrs Rhonda's page was my inspiration and goal - she looked the closest to me and when I saw her loss, I felt 'I can do this and look like that'

Especially with me being what I consider a more than average loser - meaning most lose 75-120 lbs - me having lost close to 200 is really major - I hadn't seen anyone do it when I was a newbie, so I wanted the almost 400lb girls to know that size 10 IS possible. 

I may sit back and really contemplate and test some searches out to figure out how to share without risking a connection I don't want made to me IRL - but for now - I'm incognegro and on the train to Paris!!!!

Most definitely..It did make a difference to some...believe me...leaving our profiles open...helped many in the wee hours and early morning...round the clock.

That would be great because we all know that there aren't many supports out there for "us" when it comes to this journey. 

That was wonderfully put SD.  Granted I am not all that technical smart at all and this Share button confuses the hell out of me but I understand that some people don't want outside people in their business and some have never even told their family and friends that they had weight loss surgery so to make this site a completely open environment puts people out of that secret closet.  

I myself will be leaving my profile open because I wish I had known of the site prior to surgery were I could have gotten more information on some of the subjects that I have taken part in and even the ones I haven't.
