People were blissfully ignoring the false sense of security with comfort and open sharing...now folks are tipping on toes being cautious about what they say for fear it might come back to bite them in the ass.
A newbie could just browse profiles at all hours without being a friend unless the profile was set at private...which were few and far between...now this might be the norm.
A person could get a glimpse of what they might have to endure post op...by looking at posted semi nude pics of people with their drain tubes and TT Incisions....now they have to be a friend or go look at surgeon sites for stock photos.
A person actually could get to know people on OH and BAF as human beings rather than a 1"X1" square box avatar. Now that profiles are being locked down...they either need to be a friend or see you at a M&G. Some people are very shy about making friend requests...wonder how they will do?
A person could talk about any topic under the sun from their mamas to Obama ...from upchuking to ******g...and it was all in good health and fun....now...some voices are shut down.
See...for me...its not just about the share button...and the fact that my info might land in the wrong hands..its more about the openness we all felt and connections we had with one another prior to that paranoia inducing ******g SHARE button.
While some of these connections might be captured indefinitely because we all know who folks are pre-SHARE button, the newbies coming on BAF for the first time will not experience the same "feeling" the board had or has for most of us.
Remembering the laughs we all shared...the times we cried together and the times we rallied around one another.....heyl...now I don't know who the **** yall are...LOL!!!
I see two strange white men wandering around (a skinny one and a fat one) , a salty pickle, signs, shoes, Coca Cola (I don't even think its diet), flowers, dogs, legs, dolls, zoo and farm animals...the list goes on....WTF...did they have a sale on avatars on the WWW

Whew lawd...I loves some BAF....even though OH...done just stepped in a giant turd...I guess I can't blame em for trying to make a dolla. Still don't like it though.

You summed it up well. If I was pre op today I'd never get the benefit of the personal stories I did over the last year. Hell, even back in 03' people were open and welcomming. It was easy to be open when no one knows I use this site. My avi on facebook, tmi for too many people.
It was good while it lasted. My life is pretty much an open book to those who know me, but I still don't want to pour my heart out to the world. Time to head back to some other message boards without share links.

Will do. I lost most of my sites when the last pc died but I'm searching for new ones. I've been toying with starting a Yahoo group. Members whould need approval hopefully discouraaging trolls. No Yahoo group I'm in has a share button on the message board and you can have friends and b/l conversations on Yahoo.
