Be your own health advocate !!! In order to have any type of wls you had to research it and had to go through some type of process. Usually, you have to go through an ekg, meet with a nutritionist and attend some type of informational class with the bariactric program. Some programs require a sleep study, proof of numerous diet attempts, and a liquid diet. (Not all programs require this)

After you have done all of this and then had surgery, you should learn to take care of you !!!!! Just because someone has MD, RN, DO or LPN after their name doesn't make them know anything about wls. It is your responsibility to educate any dr. or nurse that is not involved in your bariactric care about what your special needs are now. I can't tell you how many times I've had to tell specialists why I can no longer take nsaids or why I wear a medical alert bracelet that says  no sugars and no ng tube w/o a scope. I constantly remind my pcp when she is prescribing me with something, because I'm not her only patient and I have special needs.

Be in charge of your own health !!!

Well said.  Even some of the health profesionals in your surgeon's office may be less informed than you are on certain issues and how they relate to wls.

Glad to see you posting again.
