IMO, red is her color.

I like this look too.  The cut of this gown accentuates her curvy shape.  She looks fabulous in it.

I LOVE both of these on her. She looks like shes having fun in the blue!!! It accentuates her shape too. She looks her age in the red...too cute.

She looks SOOO Much cuter in those 2 gowns. See thats what I;'m talking about. The green was a little mature, like Mother of the Bride-ish...  The pink and blue are HOT and the make-up is on point.   I guess we are all entitled to a bad fashion day, but not in front of millions.  Oh well... on to the next current event...

I disagree 100%.  The dress is not only beautiful but also a flattering fit for her figure.

The crystal pleated bodice and skirt, V neck,  and bejeweled empire waistline called attention away from the least flattering aspects of a morbidly obese figure while playing to her assets.  The neckline and sleeves showed some skin without an abundance of boobage spilling out.

Too often large women end up looking like an overstuffed sausage in a failed attempt to wear something close in style to what the size 2 is wearing.   I'm glad the LA designer that dressed her bypassed those mermaid sillouettes that were so popular.

The sillouette was loose but not a billowing or a mumu.  Best of all, no bumps and rolls.  Just a perfect lines of crystal pleating, expertly fitted.

I would have loved that dress in a deep burgundy but there was a lot of green out there this year.  Not my color but the deep greens were popular.

The other two dresses look great and she looks fabulous.  When red carpet events happen stylists are in high demand and she would be low man for getting one.  I'm guessing from the look of her makeup in the green dress photo she had it done much earlier in the day and was responsible for her own touchups.  I watched one of those preshows for an awards show a few years ago and your hollywood ranking determined when the stylist got to work with you that day.  The more clout you hold the closer to showtime you get to see them so you look as fresh as possible.
I'm starting to think the green dress was made before she lost the weight which might explain why it doesn't have the best fit.  We all know it's next to impossible to find a plus size formal at the last minute so she probably had it made months ago.

I hate to say this but top notch stylists were probably not lining up to dress her because they are trying to make a name based on A list stars.  A smart stylist would have taken her and could have increased their business exponentially because plus size folks have just as much money as the skinny ones.  There are way more women who are plus sized in this country rather than skinny.

this.

what i was thinking verbatim.   when the stylists aren't checking for you, in a sea of other couture stuff (good and bad), it might show.  that being said she carries her weight in the front.  i'd think that makes getting a flattering fit challenging no matter what you're wearing.  what makes her beautiful is how she feels about herself despite it.  it's no small feat projecting confidence at 300lbs

i've already talked about monique and her hairy legs. it's personal and a preference but it bothers me for the same reason a woman sitting in a dress with her legs apart would - she makes sure that she represents femininity in every other part of her look, why stop with the man legs?

I like her in those other two dresses, but considering that she's lost about 60 pounds since wearing them, I wouldn't be surprised if she has some saggy skin she's trying to cover.  And WE should all know about that!

I hate how some fat people lose weight and forget where they came from REAL fast!

Having RNY was probably the best thing I've ever done for myself.

Approx highest weight: ~350. Highest measured weight: 338. Surgery weight: 297. Lowest weight (for 5 minutes): 169. Current weight: 209. Goal weight: ??? - maybe 180-185, which was my maintenance weight before the regain.

On urban radio this morning, everyone was commenting on Monique's hairy legs. I was sitting there in the car pissed off because for  many, many years we all complained about there not being enough meaty roles for black women to sink their teeth into and win these coveted awards. Now, there is such a film that comes along and Monique gives the performance of her life and all Black folks could focus on was her hairy legs.

Fast forward to this post. When was the last time we saw an overweight beautiful young black woman given the opportunity to sink her teeth into such a meaty role, albeit disturbing, and all we can focus on is how she looked in her green dress.

Damn, BAF, truly we are dammed if we do and dammed if we don't and half the time, we are damning ourselves.

I just hope that Hollywood finally acknowledges our worth as Black women and start giving these Black actresses some work that doesn't demoralize us or have us acting like crack addicted hoes. I'm sure Gabrielle, Taraji and Vivica all have mortgages to pay. I'm just saying...
