That's is funny, Doug!!! Thankfully, that is not our experience here. Hubby & I do all kinds of outdoor sports like hiking, riding mountain bikes, boating, water ski, snorkel & scuba dive, golf, camping, and yes, even bird watch! On vacations, we have even gone snow skiing. (Ok, we were rather few in number on the mountian in 6-degree snow conditions!
)This did remind me of boating here in Texas; the perception is that black folks don't have boats, because we are not seen using them during the HOT summer, full sun/mid-daytime. Its not that we don't have boats, many here do. The difference is this: while they are out there to get a tan in the blazing sun, they trailer-up by the dinner hour, whereas we are just arriving at the boat ramp to launch for an evening cruise!
