BACK OUT NOW IF YOU DON'T WON'T THE MOVIE SPOILED
FOR YOU.

OK.....My daughter and I saw the movie this evening AND
LOVED IT!!! So far that's 2 for 2. I loved Precious and now Avatar. Will get them both when they come out on DVD....and might go see AVATAR again.

I appreciate those that provided reviews for me before.  After seeing it, I agree 100% with Lee...it definitely has parallels reminiscent of the Plight of the Native American Indians. i mean...to tell the same history in the same ole way...pilgrims and turkeys...would have not made a box office smash.

i need to preface what I am about to say with a declaration of my saneness. I am NOT crazy...although I am sure there are those that think I am. LOL!

I had shared in an earlier post  a few days ago about the fact that there are people who are contemplating suicide as a result of seeing this movie. After seeing the movie, I have a better understanding of how some people who are not that stable might in fact have these feelings. This world has serious issues AND Pandora seems like a haven in comparison. Who would not want to live there with that beautiful weather and lavish natural resources? We have global warming....and are steadily depleting our natural resources.

The movie was a masterpiece.  The World of Pandora was wonderfully captured...the special effects took me RIGHT
THERE!

Although it was definitely a animated tale with a fairy tale ending. I found myself having all kinds of emotional responses. That's always my determining factor of a good movie...it makes me feel. Movie that do not give me an emotional response or BLA feeling get bad reviews from me.

Most of the movie REALLY pissed me off! It reminded me of the fact that greed and corruption are always the catalyst behind a lot of dirt done to people in this world.  The people of Pandora were innocence...just lavishing in their world ...minding their own dayum business AND here comes the greedy Mutha******s...
..trying to take what is not theirs. Yes...there are many parallels in real life when this happens...AND it has never been RIGHT....
regardless of the victims.

I thought about the Indians, The Africans and the Middle passage, The Jews and any other minority group that have ever been mistreated...(i.e. ****** over)

The one thing that these groups have in common is the resilient and indomitable spirit that they possessed.

It made me wonder, if the shoe were on the other foot and these groups listed above WERE or HAD been the MAJORITY...do you think we would still have the same world history OR would it be one more of peace?

So do you think that its the "people"  that cause the greed and necessity to conquer others OR the position of being the MAJORITY or in POWER that causes this need.?

In other words and hypothetically speaking, if all else remained the same (resources, geographic location etc... etc...) and say BLACKS had been AND are the majority... DO you think that we would have had different results?

I guess what I am trying to get at is....can we blame the MAJORITY for always trying to defeat AND conquer others....(Yes...it ****** us off but isn't that human nature). Take Haiti for example, there was a person in power that was not a MAJORITY member and yet...he did a lot of dirt. Same can be said for Iraq.

I personally think that the adversity that people are put under is what makes them more appreciative and sensitive to the needs of others. Then you have those that can emphasize that also fall outside the realm of the cold hearted.

OK...enough of my ranting and rambling BUT I guess...I said all this to say........................................................................................

I was SO enthusiastically HAPPY and took great ENJOYMENT
when the GENERAL....got his bow and arrow heart massage !!!

I was also happy to see JAKE get a new lease on life through his rebirth. He and Neytiri can now RUN off together.

I want to live in PANDORA too...as long as I can take my SUV(I would ride my flying creature only on the weekends).  We would also need to build a nail salon so that I can get my biweekly pedicure, fill and wax!  Other than that...I would pack my bags.

LOVED IT!!! LOVED IT!!! LOVED IT!!!

Thanks for the review.  I doubt I'll see it untill it hits dvd.  Perhaps  when it hits the $2 theater in a month.  Not a movie buff at all, but if its based on a book I'll be reading it.

I do appreciate the parallel to colonialism around the world.   These stories are still unfolding in 20th-21st century reality.   I'm always amazed at how injustice can be appreciated in a mythical world while the same folks stand behind such injustice in the real world.

I'm gonna leave my soap box in the closet tonight, lol.

I have had this discussion to many times at this point to go into any great detail, but you see what I meant huh????

While other groups were dominated and desciminated, this movie was a complete American Indian story.   It makes you a little sad because you know it was 100 times worse for the American Indians with the scalp hunting, and killing off, and disease, and Americanizing schools, and the killing off of their food supplies, etc...... I can go on for hours.

But i'm glad you enjoyed the movie.

Yes...we loved it!!!...and I did not think it was long at all. I really like the special effects. I think they might get an Oscar for that if nothing else.

YW...I am just happy that they are finally coming out with movies that are worth seeing. There was a dry spell there for a minute.
