I decided to go natural a few months pre-op. My mom and grandma warned me not to do any chemicals around surgery time beacuse it mixed w/ anesthesia would cause hair loss. Don't know if it is an old wives tale or not.
My hair has actually grown and thickened post op. Not sure if it's because I stopped using relaxers or if it's all the vitamins and protein?
Have you considered putting it up in braids or a full head sew in for a few months?

If your going to perm your hair, double up on your protein intake. I would recommend holding off on the chemical treatment. About 2-3 months after surgery, flat iron your new growth and wait to see if any hair loss occurs. Hope this helps!
