Didn't even know this was a forum
Hi everyone,
Just discovered this after posting a 'black lady sleevers' question on the main board about perming your hair and weight loss- surprised no one suggested I try over here :) Well I'm starting liquid diet on Monday and surgery is February 1st- I opted for VSG aka the sleeve since it seemed best suited for my needs. So far am loving the site and finding tons tons of information. If anyone has any suggestions on what to prepare or get ready that are not already posted then toss me a note I'm open to all suggestions.

Hi and welcome. As far as I know, most folks who will have hair loss experience it a few months post op. Since you have no mal absorption I don't know if its as big an issue as with rny. You should be fine to perm before your procedure.

Hi! I'm a sleever but I went natural before surgery. I started losing hair about 3-4 months out from surgery. It was noticable to me but not to anyone else. I'm pretty sure if I had still been relaxing it would have looked awful.
The only big thing of note to know is to not buy full size containers of protein powder until after surgery because your taste changes.
Good luck! You'll love your sleeve.
