Wasting food can you justify it?
It seems lately in order to prevent myself from over eating I through alot of food away if I do not have anyone to share it with. I been justify it to myself as I am preventing myself from consuming extra calories but I feel so bad about trashing it. If I do not tra**** I will eventually eat it because I am still working on this will power thing. How do you handle it? If I am dining out I can not just have my left over at the house because I will eat them the same day. There is not splitting things in to multiple meals for me it seems. I try to get someone in my family to split a meal with me but they all have the attitude I am not on a diet I want my own meal. If I am at work I can always share my leftovers with a co-worker. I will be laid off next week so I will try to make sure I am cooking at home and only have healthy options.
For me the only justification I need is trying to lose the lbs that are remaining...I am able to have will power sometimes and other times I am not...I have thrown away bags of chips (big ones) because I was unable snacking on them, thank God I have no desire for soda, juice, cakes or cookies because my brother would be in trouble...I would just get rid of it as well... If that is what you have to do to stay focused so be it but def try the will power thing.

If I can't eat all of my meal at a restaurant and it will reheat well, I bring it and have it as left overs. At home, I try to use a small saucer to fix my meals on and if not my son is there to consume the leftovers. ETA: I am the freezer queen, I will freeze leftover home cooked meals to bring back out another day.
People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas. ~Author Unknown
I share your thoughts. I do the same thing quite often. My husband and I disagree quite frequently about throwing left overs away. He's a bander so we are going through this weight loss journey together. I hate throwing away the food but as another poster stated, I prefer to put it in the trash than to put it back on these big hips. My husband and I do split meals when we go out but if I go out with co-workers or alone, the leftovers tend to go into the trash. I try not to eat out often so it happens maybe once a week.
As for eating the leftovers before the day is over, I definitely share that issue too. For instance, a co-worker and I went to lunch yesterday. I brought my leftovers back to my desk and before it was time to go home, I had eaten the leftovers!
I'm working on will power too!!

I hate waste too.
The farther out you get though, you will get a better feel for how much food to prepare. I used to cook way too much. As far as eating out, I would see about ordering an appetizer or a side dish as my meal. I don't have a problem going to an Italian restaurant, for example, and ordering a side of meatballs or sausage as my meal. Most restaurants are happy to oblige. If you have leftovers, put them in a carryout box and have them for your next meal.
You can eat it, but eat it for your meal, don't graze or stuff yourself when you're not really hungry. That part is going to have to be up to you. You can't hide from food forever. It's always going to be there.
I'm also one who freezes leftovers. There are some great screw top plastic freezer containers that you can buy now that are the perfect size for a single serving.
Good luck!
