a msg i got today-do people really do this?
IMO, you do you and what is best for you! I have had band surgery but I do not "push" it on anyone. I would consider myself if not a complete success at least a partial success. Good luck to you!
People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas. ~Author Unknown

My wls decision is just that mine,
Thanks Faith
In defense of that person...I personally would NEVER send someone a message about which surgery they should get unless they asked for an opinion...But when I read your page I thought the same things...I just thought that if I were in your shoes I would get RNY or DS...But I would never have sent it but someone must have ready my mind...I am sure you can and will be successful with the band just as well as with any other surgery type but I am just being honest with what I was thinking...I wish you the best of luck with your surgery and am here if you need any help or advice...

I believe success is what you make of it, i intend to be successful.
I have seen people be more successful with the band than some DS'rs and RNY patients and vice versa...It is what you make of it...I originally went to my surgeon with intentions on getting banded and he said that I need RNY and I was glad he advised me to get it...but at the end of the day it is your body and you have to do what you feel is best.
Just droppin in my $0.02. I agree with Isa here..I saw your profile and thought the exact same thing. Honestly, at my pre-op evaluation, my surgeon told us straight up that if we needed to lose over 100lbs he wouldnt do the band on us, because he wanted to increase our chances of success (without having to have a revision). His example was "Why would I band someone who weighs 400 lbs?? They would lose 100 lbs or a few more and STILL have the problem of being super morbidly obese!"
At any rate, we ALL have the power to choose what works best for us..some choose the band because they just do not want to be cut. Everyone has the right to choose. The reason for everyone's choices are irrelevant. HOWEVER, maybe it was the way that the message was delivered....A simple note to you saying something more pleasant like 'hey, congrats on your upcoming WLS and I hope you make the most of your tool!' would have been easier to receive on your part. Whatever your choice is I AM WISHING YOU love, happiness, AND success! =)

"They ON IT cause they WANT IT!"
When you look at the OP's comorbidities listed on her profile (it's now private) you would think that the DS or RNY would be a perfect fit since these are proven to resolve her issues...quickly.
But, like I said in the other threads (Illinois & Main board) it's her decision. I wish her nothing but luck on her upcoming surgery and journey.
Sorry for cursing, but this really cooks my last grit.
