I hope you don't mind if I join in.

Yesturday was a nutritious desaster for me .  My food intake was very low sent the day at the hospital with my childrens father (otherwise known as my husband) due to a diabetic seizure.  Taking it one day at a time things are really crazy but I will make it through this with the help of GOD because he knows best.

Today my meals consisted of:

Breakfast - 10oz bottle of Special K protein shake (strawberry)

Snack - 4 mini Quaker cheddar cheese rice cakes (oh not good)

Lunch - 1/2 turkey and provolone sub on wheat bread

Snack - 1/4 of mixed nuts which consists of homemade roasted cashews, almonds, pecans and soy nuts.

I have gotten in 32 ozs of water.

My only problem are my vitemains I have not taken those in well over 6 months (come on let me have it so that I will feel so bad I will run and buy some today)

I usually hit the gym by 530am but with the hospital thing I have been unable to go these last 2 days but I will try tomorrow (depends on when I leave the hospital.

My legal spouse as I call him is a type 1 diabetic too.  I've been there.  Hope he's better soon.

NOW GET SOME VITAMINS TODAY BEFORE YOU GET SICK!!!  Six months no vits is just crazy.  Get some exercise even if you jog in place for half an hour.  Its a stress reliever.

I said that I would stop lurking this year & start posting in order to hold myself more accountable so here goes:

B - Oatmeal (apple N Cinnamon flavor)
1/2 cup of half n half

L - Mixed salad greens w/ 2 tbsp of ff Italian dressing
3 med pieces of breaded skinless chicken breast

S - 1 serving of Reese's pieces
      1 serving of sunflower seeds
      6 Multigrain Crackers
1 stick of Cracker Barrel 2% Cheddar Cheese Stick

D - 2 Meatballs with sauce
      1/2 cup of rice
       2 cheese stuffed raviolis

S - 1 serving of Reese's pieces ( I decided to bring them in to work & give them to my coworker)
      1 serving of sunflower seeds

Cals: 1,899g
Fat: 101g
Carbs: 155g
Prot: 85g

Im glad that I wrote this so that I can see it in black & white because it looks crystal clear that I snack way too much.  I had to give those Reese's pieces away because the sugar was making my stomach upset but I love them so much I would still eat them.  I have to stop with the bad habbits and also need to also start logging my liquid intake.

You might not be snacking too much for you but only total honesty with yourself can confirm that.  If 1900 calories a day is enough for you to continue to loose and will allow you at goal to maintain you should be ok.  I'm still very new to the post op version of this and my wl history is far from normal but I eat as often as you do, 5-6 times a day.

I need to if I'm to get 1200 to 1400 calories in.  With a 1000 calorie exercise burn and 1500 calories to maintain my goal weight htats about an 1100 calorie deficit daily so I can loose 2 lbs weekly.  I like to eat so I choose mainly filling low carb foods averaging about 200 calories a feeding.  Three meals, two post workout snacks, one night time snack.

If the calories are right for wl/ maintenance and the foods are overall healthy and not turning to bad habits like candy or high simple carbs every day, You're ok.  Still, only you know which foods are wrong for you.

Now do log the water.  I'm surpiised how little I get if I don't track it along with everything else.

Thanks for your insight M.S.W. but you see that's the problem I am also new to the post WL even thought I had my RNY 4/08.  The weight just came off so easily that I didn’t have to work for it.  I haven’t met my goal & have gained 20lbs.

I am trying to get the things that I should have been doing in the beginning in line now so that I can reach goal and maintain it.  I’m not sure how many calories that I need and my Nut just said to stop eating when I’m full, watch my portion sizes, and not snack so much & to make healthy options.

I have come to realize that I need hard numbers and when I go back I am going to see if I can get a calorie rang from them.  I commend you for doing so well and figuring out what works for you.  How did you figure out how many calories work for you?

I do know that I haven’t made the healthiest of choices and am changing that.  I also haven’t been consistent with my workouts which is another change that I will be making.

You already know where you are going wrong.  It may be the type of snacks that's at issue.  I noticed right away the simple carbs, but I don't assume.  Some people eat crackers, candy, etc every week and still loose, then maintain.

For your caloric needs there are lots of sources.  Highly popular, thedailyplate.com; my preference is caloriesperhour.com.  Both have good explanations of rmr, bmr, and calorie deficit.

Healthtracker on this site calculates your needs to maintain your current weight.  No what if scenarios, but you can get your daily deficit if you track food and exercise daily.  You need to update your weight.  Then in profile preferences, set your actiity level.

You can see your calorie needs by activity level at your present weight.  Also,  you can enter a custom calorie figure if you like.   When your entries are done for the day, subtract your calories consumed from your energy expended  for the days deficit.
