2 Days Until Surgery, How did U Prepare?

I will have the DS in 2 DAYS!...I am so very nervous and I feel like crawling up the walls. How did you all prepare for the surgery mentally, spiritually and physically? Physically I do not mean like liquid diet etc, but like hot bath, massage etc. I know that I am doing the right thing by having this surgery but I have never had any type of anesthesia before and I think that is what makes me more nervous than the actual surgery. Knowing that I am not in control of myself being able to wake etc. Thanks in advance to all those that answer

Hi Ahari and congratulations!  It's perfectly normal to be nervous.  This is a major surgery.  But you also have to rely upon your faith and also trust in your physician.  He/she is a trained profession, and you will be in the hands of those who have performed this procedure numerous times.  If a massage is something you enjoy and will help relax you, by all means indulge yourself.  There's not a whole lot you can do otherwise.  You will awake afterwards, not remembering anything, and the staff will be in your room probably every half hour or so checking your stats, asking you questions and tending to you.  You will have control to administer your pain meds if needed with a self injecting pump.  This for some, becomes their new best friend!  You can stay as pain free as you like about every 5 minutes!....

I treated myself to a manny/peddy before going in, and had my hair styled so I wouldn't have to deal with it for a while.  Make sure you have all your protein and liquids for the next couple of weeks available when you return home also.  I also bought me some really cute pj's to lounge in!

Try and relax.  You've completed most of the difficult parts and have made a decision to take control of your health and live a better life.  Your on your weigh to the losers bench now!!  Welcome!!...

I did nothing.  Just relax, do what you normally do that does not involve food.  Have some fun, get a little exercise to release the nervous energy.   Anesthesia is the easiest part.  You feel nothing and remember nothing.  Best wishes to you.

Hi,
this is normal and you will wake up thinking what on earth was I worried about? then the excitement of it being over will kick in.
Being put under was the best part for me, I made sure that I had made my peace and it seemed as if the second that I went to sleep, I was being awakened.

Best wishes and congratulations.

We are all wishing you a successful surgery.... I pray a calm mind and spirit is yours both now, and throughout the time of your surgery. I would pretty much echo what the others have said in terms of your faith and the special treatment you are going to receive in the hospital.... everyone was SO nice and reassuring when I was in the hospital, and they will the same if not BETTER for you.... take care and know that we are praying God's absolute best for you before your surgery....
