For no exercise is off. I start the spine clinic next week, but my doc says I can't exercise until the inflamation in my hip area is completely gone. The nurse that called from the spine clinic said no exercise until I have been in to see the doc there and he clears me.

I am sorry but please don't feel all is lost and you have to have back surgery. I too have disc issues and my doctor told me that my chances were equal with therapy or surgery so I opted for therapy and I must say the pain in my lower back is no longer a problem, now my upper back that's a horse of another color.
Lee I know it sounds bad now but take a deep breath, relax & follow the doctors orders. Make sure you continue to put positive thoughts in the universe!
Most importantly put down those ginger snaps (after you pass me one) or any other goodies you want to drown yourself in. I have experienced something very similiar to what you are going through the unknown scared me but some steriod shots in the spine over a year ago and I've been fine so far without surgery....There is light at the end of the tunnel. You're bummed now in a few days you'll feel better
Peace & Blessings
