When motivation withers... (xpost)

One way I try to stay motivated is by trying to motivate others.  I think when your trying to motivate others, it sort of puts pressure on you to keep your motivation up.  People come to depend on it, so letting yourself down is like letting them down.  But you gotta ask yourself, do you want that added pressure.

Now, pressure is a mudd!!!!  I've been a big guy for so long.  Now, I've made a transformation, gotten all these compliments and set a new "standard".  I got to maintain it cause the last thing I want is for people saying " I knew he was gon gain all that weight back".  And you KNOW people will say that shiznit just as soon as they think you gained a pound back.  So, that pressure right thure is enough to help sustain my motivation.

I saw where some people spoke to affirmations.  I'm a big believer in that.  I think that repeating positive sayings in the mirror and throughout the day helps in tremendous ways..." I am thin", "I am motivated", "I have what it takes to reach/maitain my goal" etc.  It sounds funny but the results can be amazing.  And if nothing else, just pretend.  This is similar to those affirmations.  If you just pretend to be into something (even when your truly disinterested at the time), your brain will quickly associate what your pretending about as something pleasureable.

Didn't mean to get off on a therapy session but I think your doing the right thing by asking how to remotivate.  I don't think we're motivated 100% of the time.  The key is how to turn it on when you need it.

Oh yeah, one more thing:  Is you listening????

STAY MOTIVATEDDDDDDDD!!!!!!

That helps sometimes too (LOL)

This is a really great post that I needed to read - thank you!

Having RNY was probably the best thing I've ever done for myself.

Approx highest weight: ~350. Highest measured weight: 338. Surgery weight: 297. Lowest weight (for 5 minutes): 169. Current weight: 209. Goal weight: ??? - maybe 180-185, which was my maintenance weight before the regain.

I am listening and appreciative of everything you've said.

I'm having a hard time because I'm doing all the righrt things and getting all the wrong results.  I had no true honeymoon with wls.  From day one every pound is a battle.

I also believe in affirmations but right now the body is telling the mind to go screw itself.  Thats why everyone's responses are so important to me.  Each gives me a different angle.  I'm still doing right but just going through the motions.  I need a new perspective.

I am desperately afraid of weight gain and since I'm not loosing the scale is going up and down.  I could give a rats ass about the haters out there.  I want to get to goal minus five and stay there.
