OT - Is it that time again...

Ayy yo,
Now that we're about to play 'out with the old and in with the new' I guess it's time that we dust off those New Year's resolutions that we all made at the start of this year and evaluate whether or not we stuck to our guns and did the dayum thang.
Last year I promised to eat better, exercise more, get in the necessary amount of protein that my surgeon recommended, and drink more water. Did I do it? Well... let's just say that I didn't follow it to the letter everyday but I stayed faithful for about 80% of the year.
This upcoming year I think I want to work moreso on my spirtitual side (WARNING! I don't need my PM box flooded with religious emails, chain letters, and daily tips on how to be a better Christian - save dat **** for ya-selves, I don't want it.) However, I'm talking bout the whole "be kinder to my fellow man and woman" thing - ya know, by not cussing out folks in the supermarket just because they bumped the back of my leg with that dayum shopping cart with the broken wheel, or help people out more (read: donate my time; not my money), and encourage the younger generation to strive for success in everything that they do.
What about you BAF? What were last year's goal? What are next year's goals. Holla atcha boy...
These were my goals from 1/1/09...
...become more physically fit and in shape and be swimsuit ready by summer. It did not happen. I was not swimsuit ready. I did go out and buy two with the cute little wraps. I have not been brave enough to post the pictures.
...reach my weight loss goal and weigh around 180-190. Yes! I did get down to 188 in September. I weighed 191.2 as of this morning.
...remain involved within my community by volunteering every opportunity that presents itself. I am a professional volunteer. If I am not at work, I am usually somewhere volunteering with every opportunity that I can. Volunteering is extremely rewarding for me and IMO it enhances the human spirit.
...expand and grow my support group. The online group has doubled in numbers. The participation is low, however, I am grateful for those who do.
...make more peope aware about obesity and WLS. Every chance I get...if someone wants to know my experience then I happily tell them.
...remind myself daily of what is in my signature line...WLS is a journey, not a destination (don't get comfortable)...it is a road that we must travel daily to succeed. Repeating this over and over as I type my response to you.
Goals for 2010
I would really like to weigh between 175-185 to have room to "play."
Possibly make a run for city council.
Begin writing a book about my WLS journey.
People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas. ~Author Unknown
I don't do New Year's resolutions - I set goals - but i try to stay away from calling it a resolution, seems hokey.
Plus, I have ADD - and ain't no telling how I will feel tomorrow about what I said today.
So - did I have a better year this year than last? YES!
Did I do everything I wanted? NO
Were there some things I could/should have done better? YES
Will I do those things better next year? HOPE SO!!!
I did make some Q4 goals for myself - whi*****luded indoor rock climbing, creating a curriculum for a college seminar on Corporate America. Haven't completed either one, but I am MUCH closer to the rock climbing as I continue to condition myself and the seminar stuff at least has a second version. So, I'll continue to keep those on my 'radar'
I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions! I'm saving on the newsstand price.......

When I was a kid I used to suffer from BAD, but they'd try and beat it outta me so much that I finally had to realize that the treatment was worst than the dayum symptoms and cured myself.
Good luck with the curriculum creation. I think it's great that you have a unique way to "give back."
1. Get my weight between 150-158. I did get there for a minute but now I have creeped back up to 164.
2. Talk a long hard look at Brenda and make her a better person. i think I accomplished that but I'm still a work in progress.
3. Protein daily 80 gm, 64 oz H2O, exercise, vitamins. For the most part I did my 80gm of protein daily and vitamins. I fell off on the exercising and H2O.
Goals for 2010 are as follows:
1> I will get between 150 and 158 and maintain that weight.
2. I will eat healthier, get my liquids in,protein, etc.
3. I will start hitting the track at least twice a week if not more.
4. I am still working on me.

I'm with ya on that one. It's almost like once we survive WLS we get a new lease on life but are still trying to open the doors to our new horizons with keys that don't quite work anymore. Definitely a mental game there so stay up and stay focussed. Way to go!
