Sleep-lack of it!

I'll be 6 months out on 12/29/09.  Has anyone experienced problems with sleeping?  I'm not tired or sleepy at all.  Can't get to sleep until 1:30 or 2 am.  If I do get to bed about 11 am I'm up around 3:30 am.

I was reading on another board that it could be related to hormones or time of day that you take your vitamins?

Any advise or experience BAF family?
Thanks,
Andrea

Oh man I have some pills that will make you sleep your ass off and wake up with a back that don't hurt.   LOL

I actually don't have a problem with sleeping,  I sleep about 6 or 7 hours a night.

Even if you don't feel tired or sleepy you need to be getting more sleep cause it does affect your health.

Lee-you are too much!  LOL
I know I need more sleep, because I am feeling a bit slack and not wanting to workout.  so I have to make myself go and walk and do the weights.

I have started using the Bath & Body Works Sleep shower gel and pillow spray. It worked one night, but I need to try it each night.

A lot of people have insomnia after surgery.  I come and go....somedays (or weeks) I can't sleep at all, and then others I'm knocked out.

I just deal with it, I don't take anything to regulate it, but there are others on board that take sleep aids to help.  Hopefully they'll chime in with suggestions.

Thanks Hershey Dream,

I'm going to talk with the Doctor on Thursday, but I think I will try and do my Sleep products on a more regular basis and develop a routine to try and get my body back on track.  Don't want to get on any sleep aids, just not me.

Take Valerian Root pills.  They're herbs and non-addicting.  You take the recommended dosage one hour before you go to bed, and they relax your nervous system so you can go to sleep.  You can get it at any health food store.
Without struggle, there is no progress.

I'll see my Dr. on Thursday. I'll have plenty of questions for him.  I finally did get a good evening of sleep last night.  I took a long walk at 4 pm.  Then relaxed a bit after work.  Then took a hot shower with my Sleep shower gel that has chamomile in it and also used the pillow and sheet spray.  It worked!!!  I got about 7 hrs of sleep!!! Yeah!! Oh and I had a cup of chamomile tea.  I'll try it all again tonight.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and advice.  I really do appreciate you all on the boards.

Hi there!  You lack of sleep is actually a good thing.  Excessive body fat forces your body to produce all sorts of extra hormones - and one of those controls sleep.  As you lose weight, your body produces less of it, and therefore you are not pushed into being sleepy.

the fact that you are not tired says that your body is getting the rest it requires - now you have the mental challenge of your perception of the time you've slept.

I, like others on here, take sleeping pills to force myself into sleep - but I've started a new routine where I am up at 4:30am to hit the gym - guess what?  I'm STILL not sleepy!!!  lol

To me, it's more of a mental adjustment in realizing that I don't HAVE to sleep that long - when I am tired, I sleep - but if I'm up, I DO stuff!!!!

Good luck to you - see what your doc says!
