Is it really this hard

for me to go without solid foods?  I'm a week post-op and I want to scream!!!  I never knew or realized that it was going to be this hard.  I just want to go and grab something to eat, not sip on liquids all day.  I go to the doctor tomorrow and if all goes well I'll be able to move to pureed foods.  Is that going to make things better?  I have no clue.  I just feel like I'm going crazy and no one seems to understand what the big deal is.  All of my friends and family keep telling me that everything is going to be okay and to stop "tripping."  Am I really tripping?  Or is it just easier for them to say this since when they leave they can go eat a meal where they get to chew?

Okay enough of my rant and raving but any suggestions or advice would be crazy, I'm at a point where I'm questioning the decision I made to have this surgery when I know it doesn't matter now cause whats done is done.

Whew that felt great to get off my chest!

It will get better soon.  Remember you are on a restricted diet to allow your new pouch to heal.  You should be able to eat instant grits &  oatmeal, just add a lil more water to make it "loose".  That really helped me a lot, as I got tired of jello, pudding & soup way before I even had my operation. LOL  I seasoned mine w/splenda, cinnamon & real butter.

I am SOOOOOOO glad you posted!!! It does help to get things off your chest.  You are only doing what is natural and anticipated.  I guarantee you that it will pass.  Important to keep in mind that you are losing so that will help keep you focused.  You are going to be so happy with your results. Keep up the good work. Yes....good work...because you could have gone out and tried to eat something to kill your craving BUT Oh.....would you have regretted it...LOL. You are doing good gurl....hang in there!!!

Just hold on, it definitely does get better.  Head hunger is awful, I had it soooo bad. Stick to the plan, you'd be doing yourself a disservice if you don't.

Wishing you the best!

if it makes you feel any better, when you get to eat, you probably won't even be able to.  When I got to have soft eggs, I made myself a 1 egg omelet with 1/2 a slice of cheese and was ready to bust by the time I finished half of it.  Use this time to get into a routine that you can follow once you're clear for more foods, because THAT'S when the battle starts.

Yes it really is this hard. Nothing easy about it. I was just thinking the other day how miserable I was earlier this year. But I am doing great now. I really  turned the corner and you will too. Just make sure you follow your surgeon's orders. You don't want to mess yourself up. Hang in there it really does get better.

It really is a mind game those first couple of weeks.  That visual head hunger thing is a beast in the beginning!  No doubt.  You are also mentally saying a permanent goodbye to your previous eating habits and now locked into a new commitment with food.  Hopefully, you had a successful pre-op diet that help to prepare you for this new eating regiment.  I remember that first meal when I moved to pureed foods was a plain quarter of a boiled potato.  It tasted like liquid gold it was so good!!  But it was more of having something of a heartier tesxture that wasn't sweet in my mouth for a change that made all the difference.  It was only 2-3 bites, but that's all it took to quench that chewing sensation and to fill me up.  And I didn't even chew it, but it felt good to have something non-liquid.  Grits and oatmeal were good choice to fill that "lack of food" texture that was missing.

Hang on in there.  This too will pass real soon.  You will be so proud of yourself for staying the course and then reaping the benefits of the results that will coming off very quickly.

Happy Holidays,

yeah it is.  i remember not even thinking about the sensation of chewing until i knew i wasn't allowed to.   each stage will bring its own rewards but please try to keep in mind that even if you sneak off into the corner with your own mini vegetable egg roll smothered in duck sauce
(hi self! )  you'll be provided with an immediate reminder of compliance.   we just wanna spare you the feeling.

tripping - challenge your tribe to stop drinking anything that has sugar in it and see how long they're able to do it.

Darn no more vegetable egg rolls....  (singing "tonight I'm going to find a way to make it without you by Alicia Keys)  I guess that will be my new ode to food, lol.
