Thanks Lee!  You're getting me motivated, I'm about to start Couch to 5k.  Pray for my strength, lol.

I tried to keep the dream alive as long as I could with my 8 y/o boy, but he knows there's no sucha thang, "no sucha thang Sophea" (LOL).  I went as far as writing a Santa letter to him detailing some things that had happened that only Santa would know.

But that sh#t aint working either; I'm loosing that battle and he's already "infecting" my baby girl.  I'll try one last effort this year with a really detailed letter from "Santa".

If that doesn't work, hell, I'll just concede and come clean.

Echo6w,

That's sweet of you to try the letter writing. Santa can bring out the best in us. (I remember getting myself in line whenever the thought of getting that lump of coal crossed my mind. lol) Even your efforts show that it's not all about you. It's about giving. In your case it's making memories for your children that go beyond the greedy commercialization... "just give me my gift and let's be done" attitude.

Whatever happens (if the kids continue to believe or not), they can look back with fondness at the lengths you went to in order to make them happy.

Merry Christmas

My daughter is 26 y/o now, but she was told by the other  five y/o in kindergarten that the real Santa Claus is "yo Momma!" When I picked her up from her play Grandma, she was still crying, hiccupping, snot flying, eyes all red, talking about, "Mommy!!!! Bobby said that you are Santa Claus and that SC doesn't exist. It's a fairy tale!" My poor baby was crushed. After Xmas vacation, "Bobby" brought her an after Xmas gift, his Momma's good gold jewelry including a ring, bracelet, necklace and a butterfly pin!    (me callin' BJ's Momma)

My 6 year old told me the other day that I was fat like santa and that i should dye my hair white and work at the mall and say HO HO HO as she was cracking up probably imagining me dressed like Santa at the mall.... I told her that wasn't nice, but I was laughing inside at the thought... LOL

For ME, I let my sons know from the beginning that Santa was a character associated with Christmas and that he did not exist in real life.  Why would I want to give a stranger credit for something that I have worked my arse off to pay for?

People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas. ~Author Unknown

I told them from the very beginning.  I was an at home mom and my husband was a regular dude with a regular job.  We didn't have many frills and I was big on coupons & rebates coupled with sales etc.  I let them know from day one that Jesus is the reason for Christmas and we buy the gifts for them.  They never had to do without but they definitely had to earn it with grades and good behavior if we had to take $200 from the household to buy you a PSP with accessories.  They knew that all we had came from God and that we (mom & dad too) had to be "good stewards" over what was provided.

My mom did the Santa, Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy and every other make believe character to the Fullest!!

We grew up in the HOOD the middle of SouthEast DC, so she kept me and my sister as innocent as she could and that was one of the ways( along with private schools and girls scouts..lol)

She was the greatest about us baking cookies and leaving the for Santa.  He always ate them too!! She was good about having at least 2 or 3 gifts from Santa under the tree although they were small. All the big gifts came from her and my dad.  She kept the dream alive.  I swear I really had no idea that their wasent a Santa or Easter Bunny or Tooth Fairy until I was like 11.  I swear she was like a magician!! How and the heck did she get that money under my pillow like that!?!?!  I hope she teaches me when I have kids!!
