1.) Have you ever asked for a "Hook Up" at a black OR non-black owned business? 

No I have never ask for a hook up but I have ask is this the best price I can get for the item or service I am purchasing no matter the color of the business owner it is standard practice for me.  I do not want to pay full price for anything if I can help it.


2.) As a preop, did you ever try to get "Hook Ups" on food from friends or strangers?

No I never try to get the hook up on food pre-op sometimes people I know would just give me something extra in my bag.

That's what I am saying....because nothing make me more p.o.'d than going into the store the next day and seeing an item I purchased yesterday on sale. I have actually been given the sale price when I have asked about this up front.

No! What's crazy about your post is that I usually find that most black business prices are out of control...for instance the hair supply store.  You can go to the asian beauty supply store and their prices are waaay cheaper. Have you ever noticed that? 

As far as hook ups on food from friends or strangers NOPE.....

  I thought I was the only one who noticed the 'black' mark-up.....LOL

I think, however, it has to do with Black businesses not having the connections that Asians do.  Have you seen Chris Rock's Good Hair?  The distribution channels are mostly Asian controlled - they can offer a lower price.

NOT to say there ain't some shady bruh and sistas out there just marking up just CAUSE......

Naw I've didn't see the movie.  As far as it being asian controlled that's a shame. I don't know if they have a Sally's Beauty Supply Chain (not black owed or asian) in your area but their prices are cheaper also and you can use a coupon!! But I'm sorry I'm not about to pay $8.00 for a relaxer when i can get it for $5.00.
