hey ya'll, I know people have mentioned having dry lips post op.  Still don't know why this happens, but I have tried numerous products to no avail  until I found the new neosporin lip treatments.  I highly recommend them if you've been having this issue.  I don't know how it works but it does.  They are a bit pricey at $4, but totally worth it.

Thanks for the post.  I was in Target last night buying balms and gloss.  I was telling my daughter I just can't seem to find anything that keeps my lips from being dry.  I thought it was just me.

That's such a strange side effect, can't figure out why it is, but the neosporin works.  My lips were darkened due to the dryness and in just a few days they're back to pink and healthy.  Amazing product and they have a link for coupons on their website.

I SWEAR by jergens w/ shea butter.  That is the only lotion I have used for about 3 years now and  I have absolutely no skin issues at all and don't ash up if I don't have time to lotion one day.   I am typically the girl who tries everything as soon as it comes out, but since I've been using that, I have no reason to so that says a lot.  IMO it's the best lotion I've ever used.  You can usually find $1 off coupons for it too, so I hoard those till it goes on sale and stock up, otherwise it's only about $7 which I think is great for a good product.

Another thing I do from time to time is use only black soap to wash with for about a month or however long the bar lasts and moisturize with pure shea butter during that time. You can find both at african or caribbean shops or a really good beauty supply.

***Authentic black soap is not black!   True black soap is kind of golden brown and should look kind of like a dirty sponge

I'm so glad you told me about the black soap because we don't have any stores around here that sell the unrefined shea butter and the Korean stores have things called black soap but it's black. I'm getting ready to make me a batch of whipped hair butter for my hair and I need to order my shea butter and some of the essential oils so I'll look for the authentic black soap too. Right now I'm using safflower oil and it helps a little but not enough.

go to coastalscents.com  They have both the black soap and shea butter and it is fair trade so the little ladies in Africa get paid for their work.  I have ordered some make up from them before and their shipping is cheap and quick, you'll have it before the end of next week.

Hey! If your lips are dry, make sure first that you are getting your liquids in (the first sign of dehydration is chapped lips).  Also, I found out that if you aren't getting enough Iron this can happen as well.  I sleep in Vaseline (classic remedy!) and also use Blistex Moisture Therapy during the day, and mine are fine.
