"THE BIG CHOP" BIG CHOP....BIG CHOP..... BIG CHOP....
I have been natural since 8th grade. I have had locks, short afro, and now I have maybe peach fuzz and considering bald. I think it is sexy. Not to mention low maintenance. I never experience the big perm chop. However, when I chopped off my locks, I felt kinda free...hard to explain
Next step bald and loving it.

I've done it both ways. I used to like the really short looks both processed and natural. What I hated is that stage where its not short enough to be easy and sleek but not long enough to put up in a hurry.
The last time I grew it out. Its been 3-4 years now I'm guessing. I don't see a need for a big chop unless you just don't want the work of keeping two textures looking like just one.

LV'N MY RNY. WORKING FOR ME BECAUSE I WORK FOR IT.
I tried going natural back in 2003. I had most of the perm cut off and then gradually trimmed off. It just didn't work for me. My hair wasn't thick enough naturally to get the fro right. It has a kind of wavy texture with cow licks in several spots, so I was always fighting getting it shaped right. So now, I just wear it really short in a perm. I get a perm every 8-10 weeks. The sides and back are faded every week. So, the perm is really just on top.
