I Need Hair Advice For My Daughter

Ok, y'all know that I'm like Lesia when it comes to hair stuff because I just wash, condition put in some olive oil or safflower oil and put my hair in a ponytail or two braids and that's it for me.

Now my daughter is a whole nother story. She has very thick hair like I do but it's a different texture and she gets a relaxer. Well she had long beautiful hair and decided to get it cut into a cute short cut. I had the Halle Berry cut when they were young and loved it but it was work. Well now she is growing it out and it looks a HAWT MESS !!!! and sista gurl doesn't know how to curl or do anything with it and I can't because of arthritis and carpal tunnel.

She wants braids and has had them before but that was from a friend that would charge $40 but she moved. She now needs heavy duty long lasting good kinda braiding. What kinda hair ? How much should it cost and how many packs? What kind of braids? Also does she get a relaxer first and how long after the relaxer does she wait before braids? I think there is a pic of her on my profile with the short hair in between right now.

Whew.....I'm tired. Oh yeah if anyone watched the AMA's last night, where can I find a wig like what Whitney Houston was wearing? That was cute and I'm thinking of cutting my hair but I may try a wig first.

DO NOT!!! put a relaxer in her hair b4 she gets braids, all the tension will cause it to break off. The pack of hair amount depends on how much hair your daughter has ans what type of braids she plans on getting. Its been about 2 yrs since I had my hair braided, I used to get a weave braid. I used Spanish wave hair, so my hair had a body wave curl, it was braided, but the braids where so small and she took hair out  of the braid. So basically the braid was hidden. I got allot of complements on this style. I also used to use Human straight hair and get my hair braided in micros with the ends out, I would take a curling iron to it and flip it or spiral it.

No relaxer even with nappy hair ?  She has mega thick hair and she is 18 and is grown according to her but I don't know about those micro braids. Don't they cost a lot and take forever to take down ? Also since she's growing her hair out, how long will it last ?  When I was growing my hair out, I got cornrows once and they said it would last 3 months because they did it in small sections, my hair out grew that stuff in a month.  Thanks for the tips.

I don't kno nuttin bout no haer    lol.

I would think rhe natural texture of her hair would help the braids stay in.

If she is getting braids ..Dont waste time getting a perm...since all it would do is grow out..The perm wont make a difference to the new growth.

She can do micro braids with a body wave(or wet and wavy hair)
Or tree braids(nope neither of these are cheap but can last her like 3 months with a touch up half way thru)

If she wants to get some ideas ..tell her to check out youtube she would get plenty of information

I dont know I guess it is different in a city setting..I mean we have all types of hair dressers on every corner...but check out you tube...and ask people at the hair store for the type of hair and so on

Thank y'all. We are not in the big city but the hair salon I go to doesn't do braids so I will have to find someone to do them for her. I would let her find someone do it but the last time I did that she came home a hot mess.
