Rhonda I've been married twice...first time to a brotha and second to almost a brotha...("Egyptian")...and I will tell you this time it IS different, I mean...I really can't explain it, it's just he makes me feel SO special, it's just the little things he does for me that's so special, telling me how beautiful I am "when we make love" pushing my little "muffin top" and kissing it. (when my ex told me I NEEDED A tummy tuck)...just loving me...holding me when I need to be held......he take me on picnics, we travel ALMOST every week, sometimes to different states if we have free time...
It's not only the passionate love making...which is THE BEST I'VE ever had, it''s the things we have in common...I have a ROOM full of teddy bears that I have accumulated since we been dating every time he comes over to my house he has a some sort of gift for me....it's NOT all about me either, I mean we have so mu*****ommon we can talk about RACE issues, we can talk about politics, we are in the process of buying a house and we agree on things like where we want to live....we plan for our future, he hides nothing -- at least that I know of....he is just so caring and he LOVES TO GO...I mean we are always doing things, he is not a couch potato to hang out with his friends...I AM FIRST AND I AM PRIOR TY...with my last two husbands THEIR GUY FRIENDS WERE FIRST...meaning anytime they would call and want to hang out they would leave me at home on the couch watching TV...Erik is totally different he DOES hang out with his friends but he pass it by ME FIRST to see if I am OK with it and if I wanted to do something first...
We don't live together -- yet but he we spend our spare time together and he travels 90 percent of of job and he makes sure he calls me to touch base EVERY DAY....and I know where he is at ALL times...I think this time is IT DIFFERENT and NOT really the newness of the relationship, we been dating almost a year now...so if there were going to be issues I would have known them by now and he has not changed ONE bit...we have our calendars filled out for the coming year including marriage....but I know what you are trying to say....I guess there will be bumps in the road as our relationship get older..but he is so understanding that we will always compromise...
Edited to add: you can find a GOOD man of ANY race, not all WHITE MEN ARE GOOD husbands or providers and NOT all black men....my point is Erik was not the first white guy I dated they are NOT all the same nor do ALL white guys treat black women like queens...so I guess it depends on the guy and how he was raised....

It is very very hard to find such a unselfish partner, AND everyday appears to be "Valentine's Day" for you.
Many blessings for a lifetime of love for you and Erik!!

No particular order (and in the context of relationships). A real woman:
Takes the high road
Doesn’t struggle to be a lady
Knows how to get out of her own way
Can discipline the children from across the room
Runs the brain but allows him to take credit for it
Acknowledges that God leads the man so the man can lead the family
Loves him when he's not likeable
Answers questions about prime numbers, missing socks and car keys simultaneously
Won’t need to have the last word
Listens to details
In all respects, is a cheerful giver
Represents the heart of the home
Picks her battles
Handles the cir****tances no matter what
Demonstrates that she wants him but doesn’t demonstrate that she may not need him
Keeps her hands on the sack if he keeps his hands off the checkbook
Understands why women may be the *weaker* sex but men are more fragile
think i'll go back to lurking now
