Good evening, I am going through Kaiser in Ca to have WLS. I understand that I am on my appt. before being scheduled for surgery. I know the surgeon is gong to tell me I need to loose a certain amount of weight before being scheduled so that will be my last step. I only have the option of the lap band or RNY, I am leaning more towards RNY. I am looking for suggestions on what I should ask him. Thanks

Specific Pros and Cons and what he/she recommends for the type of surgery.  He/she may recommend something else.  Be open as they are the 'expert'.  Ask them about their success rate, what you can expect from them before, during and after.  Any hidden fees that Insurance will not cover.  What his/her requirements are long term i.e. depending on surgery recommended - vitamin regimine, diet - before and after.  Length of hospital stay, possible complications etc... What the approval process is like.  If they want you to lose a certain amount of weight - what happens if for some reason you don't loose what they recommend?  Will they postpone surgery?  Are you an ideal candidate for the procedure you choose?

Hope this helps!
