I am feeling so many mixed emotions right now....I just hate to hear whenever another child falls victim to the deviancy in this world....I know that there are so may silent sufferers but whenever it does make the media...its just feels like another slap in the face!!! I only hope they continue to search and keep this child in the media...like they do the others...until she is recovered.....I pray alive.

The location and fate of a 5-year-old girl reported missing by her mother was unknown even after authorities charged the mother with human trafficking and other offenses.

Antoinette Nicole Davis, the mother of Shaniya Davis, faces a child abuse charge involving prostitution as well as filing a false police report, according to a Saturday news release from the Fayetteville Police Department.

Shaniya was reported missing from her home, at 1116-A Sleepy Hollow Drive, on Tuesday morning. Her mother told police she put Shaniya on a couch at 5:30 a.m., but the girl was gone when she checked on her about an hour later, according to CBS affiliate WRAL-TV in Raleigh.

The child seen Tuesday when surveillance footage recorded the man charged with kidnapping Shaniya carrying her into a hotel room.

The release did not say whether the charges were related to her daughter's disappearance, but The Fayetteville Observer reported that arrest records indicated they were.

According to arrest documents cited by the newspaper, Davis "knowingly provide(d) Shaniya Davis with the intent that she be held in sexual servitude" and she "permit(ted) an act of prostitution."

Telephone messages and an e-mail left for police were not returned.

Shaniya had only been living with her mother since last month. Davis reported the girl missing Tuesday morning from a mobile home community in Fayetteville, and authorities began searching nearby wooded areas. The following day a man described as Davis' boyfriend was charged in the kidnapping, but the charges were later dropped and he was released.

Police then said a hotel worked spotted a child matching Shaniya's description at a Sanford hotel about 40 miles from Fayetteville on Tuesday. Authorities reviewed surveillance video and, after speaking with family members, confirmed the child's identity.

Surveillance footage showed Mario Andrette McNeill carrying Shaniya into a hotel room, and he was arrested and charged with kidnapping Friday.

Authorities have said McNeill admitted to taking the girl, though his attorney says he will plead not guilty to the charge. They have not said if McNeill and Davis knew each other.

Davis was being held Saturday at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $51,000 bond, reports WRAL. It was unclear whether she had an attorney. Her first court appearance would likely be Monday.

"My daughter's a good mother. She's a straight-up good mother," Ann Summers, Antoinette Nicole Davis' mother, told WRAL Saturday after hearing of the arrest.

Shaniya's father, Bradley Lockhart, told The Associated Press he raised his daughter for several years but last month decided to let her stay with her mother. He said Davis struggled financially over the years, but she recently obtained a job and her own place, so Lockhart decided to give her a chance to raise their daughter.

"I should've never let her go over there," he said Saturday night.

Lockhart said police have not told him whether they are any closer to finding his daughter.

"I just want her to come back safe my friend," he said. "I love her very much and I hope she is OK."

He described his relationship with Davis as a "one-night stand" and said he and Davis never argued about him raising Shaniya.

"Shaniya is a precious young lady and she is special," Lockhart said.

Lockhart said he did not know McNeill.

I saw this this morning on good morning america and I could hardly breath. I just hope they find this baby before someone hurts her. While I was watching it this morning I immediately began to pray and ask God to watch and keep this little angel. She is innocent and did not ask to come into this world. I hope she is ok. That mamma is another story!!!!

Hey BB...I feel you...I am so mad right now....I can hardly focus on the tasks at hand...needed to vent.  This might be something that can be taken out of context but I am going to say it anyway....The one thing that this baby has in her favor right now is her look....the media..have been touched by her because they can see value..... if she had been much darker...with a different type of hair structure....its a shame to have to say it but she would not be all over the news.....but rather another child....fallen through the cracks because no one would see HER as worthy. Human and child trafficking  is nothing new...its happening every day. I see it....but its one of those ugly sides of our society that people would like to deny exists.... I wish they had a channel solely for the purpose of highlighting the plight of these kids....perhaps then it would not be so easy for neighbors or folks that see suspicious activity to turn a blind eye!

I was at this little multilevel strip mall in DC one day (by George Washington University)....and this woman was letting her 5-6 year olds daughter run amok up on another level...its was obvious this child was unsupervised.....I just kept an eye on the child....as I looked for security...security ...no where to be found...eventually spotted the mother...sitting and drinking coffee in the food court area....(child had yelled down to her to the level below) child had been way out of her sight. I walked up to her....and told her that her child was running around the mall unsupervised...and that she  might want to be extra careful unless she did not want to see her child again....told her that predators are just waiting for an opportunity to snatch a child....told her about my affiliation with NCMEC!!! She acted like she was grateful for my intervention....but honestly it did not seem sincere....some folks just don't give a damn!!! its a shame...it really is....

I couldn't believe it when I heard this story.  I hope this child is found safe. What kind of mother would do something like this?  Now what is up with the grandma saying her daugher is a good mother?  Stuff like this will continue to happen unless parents realize the limitations of their children.  You can love your child unconditionally and recognize they have issues.  Her daughter was not a good mother if she did something like this....

Hi Tsunami,

The look in this woman eyes gives me the  impression that shes out of touch with any human emotions (other than perhaps anger)....she is perhaps like so many people out there...look at her child as an object rather than a living breathing thinking and feeling human being. Its so easy for them to do what they do when there is no connection. All...she sees is the dollar signs...much like she was selling a washing machine or a used automobile....deviants. God..its times like these that bring out the most of my so called Pisces dreamlike personality. Just wish there was some way I could round up all these crazy SOBs and put them outta their misery!!! so the children can be spared! Just have to keep praying about it....to cope with the feelings I have right now.
