did you mention needing a cussin out????  I'm the one for ya!!!!!!

#1 Mack reporting for cussin duty.  anytime you get off track, out of wack or slack - I'mma GET YOU!!!!   which reminds me - got somebody I need to call out......

Oh yea! back to you - RNY vs. Lap - depends on YOU.  Lap is WAY more work and focus - so you really need to assess WHY you are fat in the first place - then pick the surgery that best suits you.

I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions!  I'm saving on the newsstand price.......

Good Morning Deeva........ and welcome to BAF!  Congrats also on your date and upcoming surgery.  You're on the right track to better health and living.  Your doc and nut should very soon spell out to you what you need to be eating or not.  You may be placed on a pre-op diet a couple of weeks prior to your surgery to help shrink some parts also!  This is generally a liquid type diet that some struggle with, but it does help to get your mind set for the next phase you are about to enter into.  Start to walk and get your exercise on also. ......Treadmill
Best wishes for great journey!

Mack Mama is right.  Lapband is NOT for everyone.  You have to be much more focused on your eating behavior, exercise and over all mind set with a band .  With an RNY, you will loose (especially in the beginning) just breathing.  BUT DON'T GET IT TWISTED...you still have to work out, eat right and keep your mind right, it's just easier in the beginning for RNY patients to loose and they loose WAAAAAYYYY faster than lapbanders do.

Lapbanders from the start have to work as hard as your band does, so you gotta get off your azz and work out erryday!  No sitting on your butt, not breaking a sweat, not getting your band adjusted regularly, eating all kinds of sweets, eating crunchy foods (like chips) or soft foods ( all things that get past the band) or drinking soda or high calorie drinks and expect to loose weight.  The band is really a tool, a mechanical device, that you have to master using.  So again, I agree with Mack Mama, really do some self evaluation as to why you are fat and what you are willing to do long term to get thin and healthy and stay that way.

Love is all there is, ever was or ever will be...

I agree with what Mack Mama said.  First you need to figure out what made you fat in the first place so you don't turn around and end up there again.  I'm one week post-op (RNY) and I have a craving for every food I see on a television commercial.  I know I gotta stick to my liquids and protein and do this the right way or it'll all be for nothing like that expensive ass tummy tuck I paid for ten years ago!!!!!  The type of surgery is totally up to you and you've gotta figure that out for yourself.  There's lots of information about all of them on these boards though.  Welcome!

Hey welcome and good luck on your journey...I am very excited for you but as far as which surgery is better is up to you and your medical team to decide...I know that RNY was the best choice for me but others differ in their opinion...I would do as much research as possible and hope that you find what is best for you.

Welcome. I really think you will like it here. I am in agreement with the others in that it is a decision that only you can make once you have figured out what it is that made you fat. No One here will steer you wrong and if you need a swift kick in the azz from everything i have seen Mack is the one! Best of luck to you on your journey.
