As usual, interesting read. It won't be a wild turkey but I will be having fried turkey for Thanksgiving next Saturday.

LOL...I probably should not admit this...every year I get to enjoy fried turkey twice for thanksgiving because we (my brothers and sisters and their families) get together when it is convenient for us as a family to have Thanksgiving and it is usually late October or within the first two weekends of November.  Then, on the actually turkey day, I get to have fried turkey again. My brother Chester has perfected frying turkeys so he fries it for early thanksgiving and for thanksgiving day for me as well as quite a few other people.  I have been watching him for a couple of years now and I hope to have it down soon and I will start taking orders in August...LOL!

Excellent!!!  Are turkeys really stupid?  It seems to me that turkeys and chickens are the "short bus riders" of the bird kingdom.   I know that some breeds of dogs are brighter than others, is this also true of birds?

So turkeys are really stupid!  Wow.  As far as dogs are concerned, I had a border collie for years and she was sooo intelligent.  She understood very complicated language and directions.  For example, I could say "Go get Nana.  She's in the office" and she would go into my office and bark at and nudge my mother until my mother would get up".   She was a herding dog, so my daughter could not ride her bike in the back yard because the dog kept cutting her off trying to round her up and get her back to me.  Sooo funny.

I had to put her down two years ago (still not over it) and we got our daughter a pug.  Now...he is very cute mind you, but he is just ....slow. Poor little thing.  Yep, just plain dumb.  You know how dogs bark when someone comes into your house or at least to the door?  Well Bubba (the pug) barks when people leave the house!  He can't figure the whole when to bark and when not to thing.  He still can't work his body parts right either. For example, has not really master the ear scratch thing.  He doesn't get that he has to sit down and lift his leg to his ear.  He keeps trying to do it standing up and misses.  You can tell when he's thinking alot cuz his little head gets hot.

Anyway, I always wondered if birds where the same, especially turkeys.  I've always heard that they were just plain stupid birds.  Yummy, but stupid.

LOL...it's really the domestic turkeys that are "stupid".  the wild ones are quite cunning...as i see it.  photographers and hunters are often reminded how smart these birds are...LOL.  (as it can be hard for both of them to get good shots...lol)
