We know that we need to make a plan, or we may as well plan to fail. And since I don't plan to fail here is my plan to celebrate the weight away!!! and still kick it hard like I always do:
1. I will NOT go to any holoday function hungry, I will have a protien snack before I go and one in my purse, in case I get to the party and it's a huge fried carb fest.
2. I will stay away from high calorie drinks. "No Uncle Earl I do not want a taste of your "special" (wink, wink) eggnog. (that hardly contains any eggnog)
3. I will excercise at least 3 times a week, even if I have to drag my lazy ba-donk to the gym in a bear skin suit to keep warm"
4. I will be the sexiest me I can be in a brand new sizzling hot dress that shows a lot of leg, arm, back and everything else... I can't wait!!!!

What plan are you going to put in place????

My surgery is scheduled for Nov 16.  I have planned ahead by telling my adult kids that I will not be preparing Thanksgiving dinner this year.  I usually have 30 people for Thanksgiving with the traditional spread: fried turkey, dressing and gravy, mashed potatoes, seafood stuffed mushroom, yams, real mac and cheese, collard greens with ham hocks, ham, green bean with potatoes, pumpkin cheesecake, sweet potato pie, real banana pudding, and lots of alcohol.  The kids were so shocked they asked me if I was OK.  I have one friend that I make a pumpkin cheesecake for every year.  I made his cheesecake last week (before I started my pre-op diet) and put it in the freezer.  There will be no temptation for me...

Gurrrrl! you are doing it all the way!! OMG ur kids are gonna go into shock. I am making my traditional Dinner (with my "lite " interpretations"  and as long as they don't know what's in it they  will eat it up and be beggin for seconds... I am thinkin about substituting splenda for sugar in all my sweet potatoe pies. and if they don't scream I sure ai't gonna holla.... ya heard!!!!

I don't know if this applies to all new post-ops but for me, so early out, I didn't have the desire to eat anything that I wasn't supposed to.  Granted I did get tired of the mushy stage but 1 spoon full of mac'n'cheese made me want to vomit.  I say this to say, if you enjoy cooking for your family, I don't think that you will have the capacity or the urge to eat anything that you can not.

But we all know our limitations, see how you feel after surgery, you may be able to cook for your family and only stick to what you can eat!

I don't want to cook Thanksgiving dinner this year.  I don't usually use recipes.  I cook by taste and I don't want to risk tasting all that food.  I never really eat a big thanksgiving dinner.  I'm usually full just from cooking.  This year I get to relax, watch football and only eat what I need to eat.

This is usually the case with me. I don't have to sit down to a plate, because I have made my way around the whole kitchen nibbling and snacking to make sure everybody will be satisfied. But this year will be different I have already worked on my little tasting habit and I do it alot less if I have my bottle of water with me. So I have to go into this thing with a plan and actually execute it.

im gonna taste a little of everything  I'd like and then step up the workout. I dont do the deprivation thing. For me it will set me up for overinduging later cause I'll obsess about it. So just a little taste is my plan....I am not going to deprive myself eating celery sticks and looking @ every1 else eating mac n cheese and carrying on.... Another thing I like to do is up my water to 80 or more oz. If I follow the 45 to 1 hour before and after I drink to eat  by the time I fnish drinking most the doggone day will have passed before I can even grub!

We already make healthier substitutions for sugars and fats.  Its the white carbs that I need to worry about.  I use splenda and smart balance in everything.  This year it will be dreamfields lc pasta for the mac & cheese.

I'll do cauliflower rice for me and mix brown and white for everyone else.  I'm still working on how to reduce the carb content in the stuffing and pie crust.  I'll experiment with tsp (soy protein flakes), low carb baking mix, crushed nuts, and whole wheat high fiber bread.  The rest of Thanksgiving is under control.  Everything will be wls friendly.
