Great job, Faith.  I like your take on this topic.  Beautifully done.  You madam may go to the head of the class and receive your golden star for the day.

I go with 'Black' - would check 'White', but my lips give me away........

I don't like African-American.  I'm not from Africa - I'm from H-Town so no African anywhere near my bloodline for at least 5 generations - now, Obama - HE'S an African American.........

I had a stunning moment of clarity when I went to get a copy of my Birth Certificate for the I-9 paperwork at my job..... under race, it says 'Negro'.  That was a ton of bricks on the chest moment.

So, I'm Black - and I never forget that I was born a Negro in this world - no matter where I go, that will always be the 'official filing'........

Hmmmm...  You could still pass.  Look at Angelina Jolie.  She passes.

Interesting.  I saw a t-shirt the other day worn by a white guy who was in his late 50's with Obama's picture on it an the caption read, "Racist *****"  I was stunned.

Yeah I know what you mean.  "Negro" sounds racist even when the form is not necessarily.

Creepy though it may seem perhaps you're right about that.

Poaching on what MM said, Africans don't even consider us African, especially since we're not of pure blood.   I prefer black, if I'm referred to as A.A. that's fine, but I rarely use it.

Girl I feel black real quick almost everytime my tail walks into store.  I go into Maurices yesterday & haven't even got both feet in the store yet & they are circling me like vultures after they asked "if I needed help".

BLACK, period.  I have a Latin American parent and a Brittish West Indian parent.  While we were a bilingual family, my parents were Pan Africans in ideology.  You don't here the term much anymore but in essence all Black peoples world wide regardless of language or nationality are members of the African Diaspora first and everything else comes after.  Black is the only term I use to describe Black peoples.  Most of my Latin people are extra Black.  When you see us comming you don't see Hispanic, you see BLACK.

Cool.

Now let me ask you this, do West Indians outside of your family consider you to be more West Indian or more American?
