What did you guys do?
Hi Everyone,
I'm kinda new, or just old and never posted, but I'm here!
Anyway, now that it actually feels like I'm getting this surgery, and my poor heart is just set on the week after Christmas, I was wondering how you guys prepared for coming home. I have no idea how I'll feel, or what I'll be able to eat (I'm sure nothing), but I was wondering what kind of stuff you had waiting for you when you got home, or what type of stuff you wish you had. I'm trying to make a list of stuff, so I can purchase them here and there before it seems overwhelming.
Thanks!
Be sure to wear something comfortable coming home...like a jogging pants (elastic waist). Nothing tight.
Have plenty of pillows. Not sure if you are having open or lap, but it was uncomfortable to lay down. Much easier to sleep sitting up surrounded by pillows because it was really hard to get in and out of bed from the laying position (especially if you are having open RNY)
Have different types of samples of protein drinks/powders, SF jello, popcicles, flavor packets for water. You will get a list from your surgeon/nutritionist as to what you will be able to eat at each phase of your journey....follow it!
My best to you in your journey!

Definitely gets those pillows to prop you up for comfort. I wish that I had brought a few with me for the ride home from the hospital also. That was painful and bumpy...
Your doc should give you a general list of what you may need. Try just the sample packs of protein and mixes for now, because your taste buds will change. You'll probably just do a lot of sipping on liquids for the first couple of weeks. Make sure you get all of your vits and supplements. For me........the Gas-X was great to have handy.............Had a lot of that going on!....
Best wishes,
