Happy Friday
So tell me something. If you're smart, talented, good-looking and KNOW it, does that make you concieted / arrogant, or convinced?
Since WLS, I've been told by several others that I've "changed".....gotten arrogant and full of myself. Me? I feel like the same person I've always been. Just the package has changed somewhat.
My guess is that now, since the package as become noticible/pleasing to some, it becomes more apparent. What say you?
Have a great day.

"When Alexander saw the breadth of his domain, he wept for there were no more worlds to conquer." Plutach. Not true, for there are always more worlds to conquer.

That's a tough question, but after thinking about it, I think I tend to agree that once things move out of the way or as you say, "...become more noticeable, it may be more apparent..." What I also think is that the way we acted before wls, may not have been the "real" us. Sometimes some of us act ed a certain way before wls to not call more attention to ourselves - if that makes sense. It's understandable why you would feel like you've not changed, because now you feel more comfortable to be the "real you"... Great question... Happy Friday
Good Morning and Happy Friday
Ever watch Sex in the City? There's the old ***** the sweet one, the smart one, and the insecure one. If the characters were people those would be my pigeon holes for them and not who they really are.
Most everyone we know has us in a slot of their own making. That's not our reality, yet people get pissed off when we don't fit their definition of ourselves. Screw them all.
We are supposed to grow and evolve in this life. Who ever is not with you gets left behind.

LV'N MY RNY. WORKING FOR ME BECAUSE I WORK FOR IT.
Good Morning D. Great question. I have not changed. I have always been confident and secure in who and who's I am, before and after surgery. I don't consider it conceit or arrogance and the only thing I am convinced of is that I am a child of God and therefor beautiful because I was made in His image. I do think I, as a person over all, have gotten better and that had everything to do with life choices I made after turning 40 which included WLS.
I most certainly agree that people will pigeon hold you to some standard, real or imagined, of what they think you are or should be. Even people that are closest too us will have some unrealistic expectation of who and what we are. I have two life long dear friends who were absolutely shocked when I wasn't in "Glamazon" mode (meaning hair done, make up on, dressed to the back teeth) during my fathers death!! In their defense, they didn't even realize until that point that they did that too me.
As for after the weight loss and the attention from others, well....people have ALWAYS stared at me with a sorta blank, just-got-clubbed-in-the-head, expressionless stare and I have NO IDEA why...(makes me very uncomfortable)! My mother (who has witnessed it hundreds of times) thinks that it's because I have this "larger than life" persona (it's the all glammed out and nearly six feet tall thing) and people may be wondering if they have seen me in the media somewhere. As for me, it's just uncomfortable.
Other than that D, nothing for me is really different. I'm still just me.

Hey Handsome
As another poster said, the way we were when
we were obese, sick and dying was not the real us.
Now with our lives back we can be who we were meant to be,
I find 2 kinds of people who think I've changed:
Those who have a need for me to be 500 lbs so they can feel better by comparison
and those who are still stuck in morbid obesity but refuse to do anything about it.
Everyone else is like me, busy and actively participating in their own lives.
