Weight loss surgery and Depo Provera shot (birth control)

Has any female lost a lot of weight and decided  to take the depo provera shot and gained some of their weight back?  is the shot worth it since having weight surgery? The reason why I ask is because im taking the pill and I keep forgeting to take it. So I spoke with my OBGYN doctor about switching over to the shot and she said she dont want me taking that cause majority of woman gain weight with it. So Im here looking for advice.

Yes I experienced weight gain with depo, however weight gain is a side effect of most birth control. I spent years on the pill and I found that if I kept them on my bathroom sink I would see them and be reminded to take one. If you have a cell phone you could program it to remind you daily.

How much weight have you gained when on depo? so are you saying you would recommend anyone that had the surgery to take the pills instead?

Hi, I would reccomend the Nuva Ring.  My doctor wanted me to get on it because it is a more even flow of hormones to your body.  I have been on it since February and have not experienced any spotting or breakthrough bleeding.  You don't even know its there.  You only have to remember to take it out every 3 weeks for a week.  I have not experienced any weight gain from using it.  My cycle is now regular and I haven't had any of the problems that I had before surgery.

My OBGYN told me that the pill isnt all that effective. So I would highly recomend u using another form of birth control. The Nuva ring is cool or even the IUD. I honestly wouldnt get the shot.

I've been getting the depo shot for YEARS and I honestly can't attribute that to my weight gain. 

My doctor told me to stop getting it about 6 months prior to my surgery but then I got right back on it after surgery and my weight is still dropping.
