10 MONTHS AFTER SURGERY - UPDATE w/PICTURES
Post Date: 10/25/09 10:20 am
It's been 10 months since I had VSG WLS. All my life, I've been told to restrict caloric intake. But, at my last doctor visit, I was told that I was not eating enough! I was eating from 800-900 calories per day. The doctor says I should be at about 1200 calories per day.
I've been in a stall of sorts for about 2 months. I am told that insanity is the doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome. So, it would to be insane to keep eating so few calories and expect the scale to move. Friday, Oct. 23, I weighed 245. I have been running since about April of this year. I have found that another mistake I've made is eating low carb and running. I've learned that your body will defend itself and hold on to weight when it feels threatened. Today is Sunday, Oct. 25 and I weighed 243 this morning. Woot woot to eating some carbs and more calories!
I completed the Couch to 5K running program a few months back. Now, I am doing the Freeway to 10K Podrunners running program. It's helping me add distance and speed to my running. I cross-train with some spinning 1 -2 times per week.
I've lost about 86 pounds thus far. I should have kept better track of the inches I've lost. I seem to be one of those folks who loses more inches than pounds. I started this journey at a size 28. I am now a size 18 and working to move into 16's. I am happy with my decision to have WLS and I love my sleeve!

I am a newbie who is doing my pre-op stuff so that I can have the sleeve and I want you to know that you are an inspiration!!! I see a lot of RNY's on this forum, so I'm happy to hear from someone here with a sleeve. I'd sure like to hear your journey and how you made it thru. Congratulations on your success!!
You are looking great, isn't wonderful to be told to eat more....I've been getting down lately and it seems that the more I eat the more I lose so enjoy
