Just want some insight here:

If in a relationship and the partner truly did something that pretty much effed you up, at what point do you forgive?  Or DO you forgive?  And if you do, is it possible to do so and save face? Does it depend on exactly WHAT was done?  They say that to forgive and forget is the adult thing to do, but one does not always necessarily want to do so.

I'd be interested in your comments/ answers.

I forgave my ex when the judge told him to get his stuff and leave. It was a turning point in my life that let me know that I was a better person and it was time to move on.  I forgive him but you never forget it. You have to be able to forgive in order to move on to something more positive. You can't always be a bitter person.

I do believe in forgiveness but I do not soon forget and one should learn from the occurence.  I really believes it depends on the scenario. IMO, I believe that hating/disliking someone or holding a grudge is wasted energy that could be used for something more worthwhile.  Referring back to Doug's post... I forgave my husband and but I did move on.

I forgive but never forget.  There is a lesson to be learned and I don't ever want to forget where I came from.  Like they always say, "what don't kill you can only make you stronger".

We must be related because that's exactly what I believe as well.

I forgave and let it go.  Forgiveness is not for them, it's really for you.   Unforgiveness is poison to the soul and it blocks your blessings.  I refuse to hold on to the sorrow and hurt that someone inflicted on me.  They may have taken that time in my life from me, but they do not get my future as well.

Love is all there is, ever was or ever will be...

My thoughts exactly!  Tomorrow is not promised to us and I don't want to spend what could my last day on this earth mad about something that happened in my past.  Each morning that I wake up is a new day and I want to enjoy it to the fullest.
