I have to both forgive and forget..because if i dont foget their wrong doing then I am constantly reminding myself of the pain that was caused..and everything that they do...from that point on...wont be right...
But I only allow one mistake...then you get the boot...sorry dont have time for the games..

I believe that "forgiveness" is truly one of the hardest things in the world to do. But in order to move forward I believe that we
toting around 24/7.
have to forgive, no matter how long it takes, or how hard the struggle is to come to terms with forgiving! Not easy! Forgetting, never! we just don't forget. But if at some point we don't "forgive" the other person(s), then we carry yet another "piece of luggage" into a new relationship...and those bags can get pretty heavy toting around 24/7.

i have on more then one occasion forgiven and forgot the idiot that my sons father is..i have done it more then once..but he is so quick to remind me of just how stupid he is..lol..but i again forgive him..cause really holding all that anger about anyone doesn't do you any good..as they say let go and let God..
It is better to be motivated by the souls hunger rather than the egos greed.

Interesting question.
There are a few things that are deal breakers for me and anyone that I've been in a committed relationship knows these things: cheating, physical or verbal abuse, are the 1st couple of things that come to mind. Knowing myself as I do, I may want to forgive-its the forgetting that is hard for me. If something happens that I know I can never get over its best for me to cut my losses because in the long run I will make myself and the person I'm involved with absolutely misearable.

You all have very interesting responses.
I guess sometimes its best to forgive, but NEVER forget, no matter the offense.
The sad thing is that, some of those experiences shape the people we are. For example, if the transgressions happen as children, they often come with us into adulthood. Sometimes it crops up in our interpersonal relationships, whether romantic or platonic.

"When Alexander saw the breadth of his domain, he wept for there were no more worlds to conquer." Plutach. Not true, for there are always more worlds to conquer.
