Is it really that hard? Is it hard meantally, physically, or both? Monday I meet with the surgeon to set a date. I keep thinking that I can do it on my own because I am nervous even thoujgh I know each time it does not work. . I have tried to lose the weight, but I continue to give up. I want to be a better mom. I have one year old twins and a five year old who wants to play all the time. even if it is hard I need to do it. I need to do it for myself and kids.

You can do it! Wls gives you a tool to help you suceed. It may get rough but for me knowing I have a tool makes me think about my choices. Before, I would just say well tomorrow is a new day. If you were able to do it and keep it off on your own you wouldn't need a little help. Think about it everyone needs help with something at some point in life. Take the help you will love the difference it will make in your life. Your kids will love your new found energy.

I was tired of just existing! I wanted to live and love every second of life. Since I am a newbie to this myself I am still discovering the vibrant woman I once was and to be honest I'm mad I left myself hiding away. I'm loving life and living again. There is nothing like it!

Much sucess as you transform into the new you!

You are absolutely right. I am going to succeed and live a wonderful life full of energy. Food has been my downfall for so long, and I am mad at myself for giving up so easy. I have had  those days when I say I will start tomorrow. Tomorrow comes and the same statement is made. Sometimes I start, but give up maybe five days to a week later. Food is my weakness, and that's why i need to do this. I need something that will enable me not to overeat. Now I am excited again because I know next year I will be close to my goal weight and happier than ever.

WLS isn't a cure all, it is the catalyst to get you started on a healthier path.  Initially, without help from you....you will lose weight.  But THEN....this is where the healthy eating habits kick in...to allow you to maintain your loss.

I knew I needed help, it got to the point where I ate my daughter's lunch while she searched for a spoon.  Hurt my heart to no end to see her face.  WLS is one of the best things I could have done for myself.  I've learned so much about me during the whole process and my daughter is able to enjoy the benefit of a happier, healthier mommy.
Life is not about making it through the storm....but learning how to dance in the rain.

Hersey Dream, Congratulations on your 2nd child! Best Wishes and hopes for a healthy baby! "searched for a spoon" that was hilarious!

Dear Last time,
I'm starting on my WLS journey too, but you're farther ahead than me. My insurance is Kaiser and it takes 6-7 months from start to surgery date. I think at one time or another we've all felt that we could succeed at this WL game by ourselves. Some of us may find that we can w/o any help. Well I've been a yo-yo dieter all my adult life and I've lost and gained the same 40 lbs so many times that I think the 40 lbs just hides somewhere in my body until I touch something that sets off my carbs/sweets  meter and the 40 jumps right back on, but from the support I've seen on this board, I think it'll help tremendously. Just being able to vent, ask advice, or get that pat on the back will keep us on the right track to our goal. Here's hoping and praying that you surgery and recovery turns out great!

Hershey Dream! You look just like one of our family friends from Wilson, NC, originally from NYC. Dag, the resemblance is uncanny! I know where your twin lives!

I hear what you are saying. That's why I am not going to listen to that little voice that say you can do it on your own because I already know I give up too easy. I'm going to have my surgery and work hard to lose and keep the weight off. I have lost and gained so many times. I had lost 89 pounds and in a matter of months I had gained it back and then some. After having twins this last time the will to lose weight has become even harder for me. I really enjoy OH. It has helped me have more of an understanding of WLS. Plus I see people really connect and support one another. Good luck to all and thanks for the words of encouragement.
