@ I also want to comment in reagrds to the stereotypes of the "SOUTH". Racist people are EVERYWHERE, in some areas it may be more outspoken than some.

Oh no doubt.  It is indeed everywhere but you actually feel it more in the SOUTH.  But here's the really crazy part...  The people who live there have it so ingrained in there head that it is truly normal until they don't even feel moved to try and stamp it out anymore.  They just shuffle along and put up with that ****

We southerners love to give hugs and most of us are friendly.

People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas. ~Author Unknown

Sad thing is....he's been refusing for years and it's just now coming to light.
Life is not about making it through the storm....but learning how to dance in the rain.

He's a Justice of the Peace and the requirements for the job are very low.  They are elected or appointed.  I heard he's being doing this 35 years.  He needs his license revoked ASAP.  Somebody should have complained before now.  Makes me think people are afraid down there.

It sounds like they ARE AFRAID...it's said but a lot of blakc folks in rural areas in the deep south still have that "slave mentality and very afraid to speak up...I would think his license WOULD be revoked if people filed suits or complianed about this...

All you need is a high school diploma, be a registered voter, good moral character and not a convicted felon. Very low requirements for the job.  One of my ex co-workers was one in South Carolina.  She talked about marrying people at her house in the middle of the night in her fuzzy slippers.

I can see refusing to marry someone who showed up drunk or high because that's impaired judgement.  But interracial marriages are legal... he doesn't need to do the job anymore if that's a problem for him.

Oh....I misread...and was thinking he was a judge....Justice of the Peace...gotcha...well he still needs to be fired. Thank God...he is not a judge and in charge of sentencing.

Sad situation down there.  I say IR couples have just as much right to be miserable, wake up next to the same face every morning, see each other in uncompromising situations, and eventually get divorced as anyone else.

For that matter, I think homosexual couples should have that same right.  lol
