OK so I know it's "only" October but the holidays and new year will be here before we know it.  What are you doing now to prepare for the upcoming feast?

Are you the type to avoid them altogether?  If so does do you think that is realistic and is it a move that will set you up for failure.

Or do you just make your self exempt to staying on plan and throw down lol??

Me I am going to try and re-invent some of my favorite's and take them with me when I go to family and friends.  No need to cook like it's my last meal knowing I will have wasted leftovers.

What do you guys think what have you done in the past or plan to do in the upcoming future???

I cant wait for the Holidays I love to cook. The good thing is when we go to my mother-in-law for the Holiday I dont eat becuase she cant cook that very well. I bring my own chicken breast becuase she makes her turkey and ham 2 weeks ahead then freezes it then takes it back out and re-cooks it Talk about being dry and my pouchy won't tolerate that dry azz food
I usually cook fro my family for the X-mas Holiday and make everything as normal but just dont eat it. Ok, I will dabble in a little bit of macaroni and cheese but I use wheat pasta and brown rice. My family has come accustomed to that way of eating. Funny thing is when we go to visit my inlaws  my mother-in-law loves that Wal_mart chicken but when my family eats it they get really sick for days. Now, they do still eat sweets but that hasn't bothered them but the fried foods make them really sick to their stomach.

First off. "Hey girl!!!"  How have you been? Secondly, last year I was very careful and I plan to be the same way this year. I cook and then we go to our inlaws  of which I don't eat too much of anyway...

If it was in the clouds I would go on a cruise for Christmas instead of being home catering to guests. My sister and her family is all for it but mom loves to be at home for Christmas.
Tis better to be dis-liked than to be loved by them cuz your always on their mind.

The holidays are easy - I do all the cooking, so there's no 'crap' laying around.  I do sugar free versions of the 'old favorites' - which works out great because my mom is diabetic anyway.

As for the functions at work - they are potluck and I usually bring whatever I intend to eat.  Everyone knows I am a VERY picky eater - these days I am known for my lunch salads - I keep the fixings in the fridge and bring fresh lettuce bags each week - so they know I eat healthy and not to mess with me!  LOL

Would  you mind giving some examples of "sugar free versions of the old favorites" I am new to this and am grateful the topic was brought up and I want to try and stay ahead of the game.

Ummm.... see.....  I'm a 'taste and see' kinda cook - I don't really do measurements and such - so I can give you the ideas about what I've substituted, but I can't do exact recipes...... would that still help you?
