 Wow, seems like a quick discharge for a revision! I know you are ready to get home, but I also wish they had kept you another day. Please be very careful at home. I hope someone is going to stay with you a few days. 

I'm so glad to hear that everything went as planned. Sorry about all the pain. I know it will get better quickly. Can't wait until the pain goes away so you can let us know how everything with the new anatomy feels. Feel better soon!!

I feel perfectly fine except the pain that is a level 5.

I was shocked about being released today too, but they said I was released because I passed my Upper GI and moved my bowels and was always walking the halls to prevent blood clots.

He stated that he had no doubts about me being compliant when I got home because he could see the dedication and motivation in my voice and my actions.

I hope I get to feeling well soon.

I will update soon about the new anatomy when I get to try it out.

Right now I have two weeks of phase 1 liquid diet.

 Still seems like a super quick release, but I guess you have to be close to death to get a hospital stay for anything these days. Glad that's not the case with you! 

Nice that he has confidence that you will do well. Guess when you are feeling better, you can give us some more detail about what he found when he was in there (as far as you previous surgery is concerned). Sounds like everything went perfectly well for you. That's GREAT!!

Get well soon so you can get me fired up about fighting my denial. It came in the mail Friday night. Really crazy reasons for denial that have nothing to do with what my doc submitted for, so I'm sure it's just another stall tactic. Enough about me though....

Yeah he is pretty good doctor so if he felt I needed to stay longer I would have.

 Well, the doctor filed for a medical revision and not for a revision of an old bypass. Not sure that makes sense, but that's what he told me. He said that he was doing a revision for Gastroparesis (delayed emptying of the stomach that was diagnosed by the radioactive scrambled egg test), Bile Reflux, Barrett's, and Anemia. 

I posted the denial letter on my page at OH, but basically, the reasons they stated for denial have nothing to do with the reasons that Dr. Lord submitted as complications. They said that I was denied because my BMI was not 35 (it's 34.8 right now) and because my Barrett's lesions biopsy came back negative. Thanks Goodness it came back negative, because a positive biopsy would mean esophageal cancer, which is a death sentence. My step-father died from that last week after a two year battle.

Tomorrow, I'm going to call and schedule a sleep study. I have Sleep Apnea, but it's been ten years since I've been tested. Getting the bile attacks on film during the sleep test should help me. I'm also going to schedule some other tests like the PH test for bile reflux. I could actually qualify for a revision on excess weight with a 1.5 pound gain, so I might as well cover my bases there, too. 

Dr. Lord will file an appeal. I hope to hear from them this week about what happens next. I could hire a lawyer if I need to. 

No worries about any of this stuff right now, though. I expected the denial, so it does not have me too upset. I was actually glad to see that the reasons they stated were so out in left field. Should be very easy to get this overturned. Actually, one phone call from Dr. Lord to Blue Cross should do it if he makes those kinds of calls. He seemed very confident that he could get an approval, so I'm not going to panic just yet. 

I just realized that I'm posing on the Black American Forum, lol!! I posted on the Men's forum by mistake the other day! Sort of like walking in the men's restroom by mistake. I did not even realize that there was a Men's forum or a Black American forum. I just linked to them from MY OH page and did not look at the link above before I posted. I need to start checking that before I post!!

It sounds like you may have quite the batter on your hands, but I know you can overcome it.

I am very proud of you and your calm demeanor.

I am staying by myself.

I am fine. I have no issues moving around.

I did all of my grocery shopping prior to going to the hospital.

My mom and my sister lives down the steer from me.so they are close by.

Make sure when you call insurance company to get the names and operator ID, and write down the date and time you spoke with them.

I hope you can win your appeal.before the end of the year.

Sorry to hear you are in such pain- rest rest rest when you get home.  I am doing well yesterday was hard but it was good to know that others feel the same way. Just got the drain removed and am finally able to keep a little broth down.  What a change this will be. Every day I will re learn how to eat. My plane is tomorrow and I will be leaving at 7 am and voilla!  Hope you are feeling better soon!
