Yes, I'm a newbie, still learning and hoping you "vets" can help me out...

What is up with the "foamies"? I've basically been vomiting everyday since last friday on a consistent basis. I was giving "nauseau meds" by the hospital-which IS NOT working. However today, I'm really dry heaving now.  My question is -when i throw up (before I started dry heaving)-why is it all foamy-ish??

I also have this issue where it feels like something is constantly stuck in my throat!! After a sip, after a spoon of yogurt- basically after any and everything thing and its driving me nuts!!

I'm sure others had this experience.. Please help a sista out and help me to understand!!

Holla,
Flo

You might have a stricture.  I would call your surgeon, explain your symptons  & ask if they can schedule you for a EDG.

Sorry to hear this....first thing I thought about was a stricture as well... I would call the surgeon and let them know you are still feeling this way. Also watch how fast you sip try drinking your water from a spoon at room temperature... Hope ypu feel better soon.

Flo,

It sounds like you just might be taking in too much at one time.  What sized utentils are you using?  You may want to try sipping from a baby spoon, not the toddler ones.  Are you following the rules for the time span that you should consume your food?  Also watch the postion that you are eating and drinking in.  When you are consuming food or beverages, make sure you are sitting up straight.  Don't eat or drink in the bed, propped up on pillows, in the recliner....none of that.  If the nausea meds are not making you feel better, you may also want to try pure lemon juice in water and believe it or not, old fashioned DILL PICKLE JUICE (from the hamburger chip style slices) those were my saving grace (each of these things were suggested by MY doctor).

The question that I am asked most often:
 Is that your hair??????

Thanks you all.. i was thinking possibly a stricture too, but each time i ended up in the hospital, they did everything BUT an EGD... And I am tired of continuing to go back there and they just do a CT scan, give nausea meds.

However, SP, I will try the suggestions you gave me as well.. I am using a baby spoon and have been  doing the timeframe my doctor has been telling me to do. Right now, suppose to  be on pureeds, but again back on the liquids.  However, I will try the lemon juice and pickle juice. And will pay more attention to my posture when drinking those things (never thought of that-although its common sense)

Thanks for the advice!!

If that doesnt help, insist that you have a EGD as that is the only way that they are going to be able to tell if you have one or not.

I complained about my issues at my two week followup.  Both the nurse & the nut suggested that i remain on the liquid diet for a few more weeks so that things could "resolve itsellf".   If my surgeon would have come in talking crazy like them, I would have to have shown my tail.    The previous 2 never imagined that it was a stricture because i didn't have the common issues that are generally related (vomiting, nausea...)  But without a EGD there's no way to know for sure.  Well, i've got the pic to prove it, mine looked like a closed fist, both he & I were shocked that I was able to get anything down at all, let alone not having any of the normal symptoms with it being closed off like that.

Keep us posted.
