I have a question?
*Mack sticks head in room, looks right, then left*
DAMN! ain't NOBODY fess up on the front line in this mofo????? Aiight - I'll be the mofo to answer......
At 4+ years out and two plastic surgeries in, I ended up at 200 - up from my 'maintenence' weight of 186 - tried to get control and back it down on my own - no luck. I went to a weight loss clinic a couple of weeks ago - got prescribed phentermine and B-12 and fat burner shots. I take the pills everyday, the shots are on Fridays........ I'm at 192 now. I can stick to my meal plan everyday with no trouble - I don't get terribly hungry anymore and I don't crave carbs.
BUT - that ain't all - I am exercising more - the program also calls for no less than 30 min of cardio 5 times a week......

No prob.
Yes - there are side effects. the officals ones are may cause problems with those that have heart disease or issue (it's an ampetamene (sp?) derivative. and all that other stuff.
OTHER effects and what I've noticed is it is making me HIGHLY emotional - if I am happy - i'm REAL happy, mad, MADDER THAN A MOFO!! sad...not
but
!!!!!
your doc may require an EKG before prescribing.

I'll second the Phentermine and I'm still a pre-op. I've been taking it (37.5 mg dose) on and off for over 10 years to keep my weight down and it does work. Along with diet and exercise, it helped me lose over 100 lbs at one point. I've just never been able to get ALL the way down to a healthy range, but I think if I hadn't been taking it, I'd be MUCH, MUCH larger than I am.
I ain't ashamed to say that I have EVERY intention of taking it post-op if the need arises somewhere down the line. Matter of fact, I just got a script from my doctor last week to help keep the weight down until I have surgery.
I have not experienced too many side effects from them. Although, after a hiatus, I do feel REAL hype for the first few days.
I decided to steam clean all the carpet in my house the other night...at MIDNIGHT. At first I was just gonna do the steps, then when I finished I still had a TON of energy, so I kept going. LOL
Just a few other things to keep in mind. Be careful with your caffeine intake when you're taking them. It can give you the jitters. It may make you incredibly thirsty (major dry mouth), but that's good cuz it helps you get your fluids in. And be mindful that your body will become immune to them over time, so after taking them for a while, you may need to come off them for a couple of weeks and then start back over again.
Sometimes I experience insomnia, but that's minor compared to the benefits of taking them. It's not for everyone, but they sure as hell WORK. I'll say that much. Good luck!
