Yo, I got a question about the french press. Do you use less coffee than when brewing thru a coffee maker? Cuz I'm not sure what I do wrong. While I love coffee its too strong/bitter when I use the french press-but perfect when I dig out the coffee maker. I was trying to save counter space since my crap apt is very tiny!
Why am I asking you? My little sister works for Starbucks.....
What brand french press are you using and how are you cleaning it? I had the same issue this week and discovered that some of the grounds were wedged in between the filter and the strainer brackets - so I make sure I got all those in between that and washed it with soap and water.
As for amount of coffee - I use the same amount, 3 tablespoons. Are you making sure you stick to the 4 min brew 'rule'? If you leave it sitting longer, it will be bitter.

no WONDER it's bitter!!! LOL - um - yea - need you to stick to the 4 min rule. The Bodum press I have I got at Starbucks for $40. Having the right equipment is key - so if you're really gonna get into it - invest and do it right. It really is a better cup of coffee in my opinion.

If you have other things to do before you're ready to drink it - you can brew it then let it set on the warmer of a coffee maker - that's what I do on the weekends - but you said you were looking to save space, so that's counterproductive (no pun intended hehe).
