I know this question has been asked a million times already, so make this a million and one, LOL
My surgery is coming up in a few weeks, and I was wondering what I NEED to take with me to the hospital.  I've gotten a few things, but I want to make sure I have what is absolutely necessary.  Any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance peeps!!

XOXOXOXOXO,

Lisa

A change of underwear and something to wear home.  NOTHING ELSE. I'm being seriious. You don't need all that crap people post on here. They give you everything even a toothbrush at the hospital.

Maybe take some slipper socks or bedroom shoes for walking. Everythng else leave at home.

Unless your hospital is in Siberia, if you need something, send a friend to pick it up for you.  They have gift shiops and pharmacies near all hospitals.

Hi Lisa,
I see that you have Dr. Kole from St.Johns. Are you attending tomorrows event?

Anywho, I was at St. Johns and really didn't need much. They will supply basic stuff, BUT if you have skin issues like me, you may want to take your own bar soap, deodorant etc. I was there 3 days and thank God that I had the stuff.

1. Slide on Slippers, you wont be able to bend to put on the ones that the hospital provide.
2. chapstick
3. regular toiletries
4. robe
5. buy some cotton t-shirts in the event that Dr. uses a binder otherwise that thang will itch you to death.
6. A comfortable outfit to wear home, jogging pants are perfect.

Before leaving for surgery try to have your post op food items. Buy only the NECESSARY items because your taste buds may change. I also purchased toddler spoons, sippy cups, and toddler dishes. Stock up on your magazines, books, and stuff for your recoup time especially since its already artic here in Michigan.

Congratulations,
Que

I second not buying a ton of post op food. I still have enough chickenm broth for a small nation, and I couldn't stand even the smell of chicken broth post op.

I'll second the take nothing wear a comfortable sweat suit to the hospital that you can wear home, a cell phone and maybe a pair of slip on slippers that's it!  The hospital will supply everything else.  You are not going to want to read or do anything but rest & walk.

Have a pillow in the car for your ride home to hold on your tummy

Get some protein samples and a "FEW" soft and liquid food items, i.e. sugar free jello & sugar free popcicles, broth, refried beans, cream soup.... don't buy a bunch of stuff because you will have enough left to feed a small army on a liquid/soft diet :)

Congrats on your surgery dte.

Take nothing?  Sheeeeeeeeeeeet...

I don't know about you but those hospital gowns didn't fit my blacque azz worth a dayum.  I had to wear two of them sunz a *****es (one in the front and one in the back) or all of my biz-ness would be on display.  It was bad enough that I was walking up to the nurses station every change of shift with my portable IV telling them, "Y'all ordered a stripper?  I brought my own pole."

You're gonna have to and will want to walk the halls repeatedly so I'd say take a robe just in case.  Hey, I'm a nudist but I like to be "part" of the show, not the dayum star attraction.

The only thing I'd add to what the other posters suggested is a cell phone if you  need to talk to call friends/family out of town.
